I bring you back again to the wonderful town of Dinan, in the Côtes d’Armor dept 22 of my lovely Bretagne. I am finding nice pictures in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me. We visited Dinan several times and always asking for more. Therefore, let me tell you about the streets of Dinan !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The rue du Petit Fort leads to the port by steep pavement from rue du Jerzual, continues on rue du Petit-Fort, towards the port of Dinan. Between nobility and shopping bourgeoisie, lower town and upper town, its wooden sections cover many intrigues, Two forts came to defend the Porte du Jerzual or gate, and the rue des Tanneurs took the name of rue du Petit Fort, To do absolutely, leaving the city to reach the Rance bridge which is at the bottom, this street is absolutely superb, with very pretty facades, beautiful colors, it is a really very pleasant walk. You have to be well put on because the cobblestones are unequal and this street is really very steep, it is however worth the detour.

.You can see at no, 24, an imposing wooden house transporting us several centuries. Welcome to the Maison du gouverneur or governor’s house. Belonging to one of the governors of Dinan, it would have been rented, a frequent practice in the 17-18C, to ensure additional revenues, There you ,also, have the Tannerie Corneille, at 49, 51 rue du Petit Fort in 1934, the Tannerie, the dryer and the 49 store, were in ruins; sold in 1936 by Charles Corneille, the site was rehabilitated and transformed into homes in 1960 ; the plot being divided into two (49 and 51 rue du Petit Fort).
Another beautiful street to walk and shop and eat in Dinan is the Place des Merciers,This square is characterized by houses from the beginning of the 15C, and arcades supported by beams that have spent the centuries. The charm of this square is even more special in the evening, when it is lit by a weak light that allows you to see the stars.

Here do stop by the house at 1 place des Merciers with wooden paneling is a key house in the 17C, with Doric columns. Also, the house known as the Mère Pourcel,at no 3 place des Merciers ; a first building of which it remains the screw staircase in the cellar, This house before called the Maison dit de Saint-Dinan, built in 1457 and later name Mére Pourcel was acquired by the city of Dinan in 1934 with the aim of preserving it.

Gorgeous! I visited Dinan while in Bretagne years ago, as a trip from Rennes. I remember trying réglisse (licorice) ice cream there, although it wasn’t to my taste…What a beautiful little town!
