I will take on again, the Palace of Versailles on this post. Of course, plenty more in my blog but just found older pictures on one of my cd roms ,that I like to show them for you and me. This is a wonderful huge property , and a must to come even crowded, very popular by all. Versailles is it !!! can’t stop bragging lived here for 9+ wonderful years, Let me tell you about the Château de Versailles, part VIII !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I.
The historic galleries of the 19C at the Château de Versailles houses the works of Léon Bonnat are usually presented in the rooms of the northern attic of the castle devoted to the 19C and at its significant moments: catering, the reign of Louis Philippe Ier and the trip of the Queen Victoria in France, the Second Empire, the advent of the Third Republic or the celebration of the Treaty of Versailles. Most of the historical and portraits have been ordered by Napoleon himself. The galleries of the Revolution at the castle are on the second floor, and are an incredible space which conceals unsuspected and unknown treasures on the time of Napoleon Ier.
Rearranged as part of the Museum of History of France (Palace of Versailles) ,and formerly apartment of the Princess of Chimay, the attic located above the Queen’s apartments is entirely devoted to the periods of the Revolution and the Empire. Tables of small and medium formats, masterpieces such as the oath of David’s palm game or even the famous Bonaparte at the Pont d’Arcole de Grosse, adorn the tense walls of fabrics reproducing the silks commanded by Napoleon for its different Residences. In the Attica Chimay are grouped the works representing the consulate period with the relatives of Napoleon. Created under the reign of Louis-Philippe between 1837 and 1847 at the site of former courtiers apartments, these rooms present part of the collection of historical paintings from Versailles, illustrating the Revolution (1789-1799) and Le Consulate (1799 -1804). The Attica Chimay, located above the large apartment of the Queen, would take its name from the last lady of honor of Marie-Antoinette, who would have lived these spaces just before the French revolution.

Since the creation of historic galleries, in 1834-1837, the Château de Versailles has preserved the most important collection of Napoleonic paintings and sculptures in the world. It is also the most prestigious, most of the works from orders that the emperor himself passed to the artists. The “stars” of Attica Chimay remain the oath of the game of palm (1790-1791) and Marat assassinated (1793) of David, as well as Bonaparte at the Pont d’Arcole de Gros (1796), and the portrait of the deputy Jean -Baptiste Bellely de Girodet (1797). And the busts of La Fayette by Houdon (1790) and Desaix by Chinard (1800-1808).
