Other things to see here, me think are : The Halles d’Egreville or covered market were built at the end of the 15C. They replaced a first work destroyed by a fire in 1273. In 1638, they were renovated , and in 1663, was also installed oblique reinforcements. The stone foundations were replaced in 1769. The halles housed the weekly market in Egreville and the fat poultry fair on the second weekend in December. The Saint-Martin Church built in the 13C, rebuilt in the 15C and enlarged in the 17C, The Château d’Égreville, built in the 12C enlarged a first time by Jean II d’Aigreville, it was rebuilt in the 16C by Anne de Pisseleu Duchess of Étampes and favorite of King François Ier. It will be embellished in the 17C by the marshals of La Châtre which will create gardens, the court of honor, will have the ditches recreate and surround the property of high walls. It will successively become the house of Étienne-Prosper Berne-Bellecour, painter, then that of Jules Massenet, famous music composer. The old grange de La Recette dite les Champarts or barn of the so -called Champarts recipe, This property is made up of the old commons of the castle, the recipe The first two buildings date from the 13C for the recipe and the 12C for the Champart whose fortified walls are visible from the rue du Château , La Vénerie, a former hunting pavilion, was rented to the town in 1792 in order to hold assembly for the new town. After various transformations due to the establishment of the elementary school, this building became the current City/town hall. The so -called maison dite des Trois Têtes or three heads: this house dates from the 17C whose tombstone masks the entrance to the crypt of the ‘church. It was brilliantly restored in the 1980s. The three faces adorned one of the windows undoubtedly represent the woman and the children of the said Gabriel de Villers.
A bit of history I like tell us that is is an ancient medieval city, endowed with a castle, a Gothic church and an old covered market, the town was notably the fief of Anne de Pisseleu, mistress of François Ier. It, also had as residents the composer Jules Massenet, owner of the castle. Rhodia Bourdelle and Michel Dufet, daughter and son -in -law of the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. The latter have set up a property that has become the Bourdelle jardin museum. Égreville is historically part of the French Gâtinais and its market welcomes a fatty poultry fair centered on the Gâtinaise race each year. In the 16C, the fief was sold by the daughter heiress of Aymon d’Egreville to the famous Duchess of Étampes, favorite of François Ier. Egreville then went to the niece of the Duchess, Jeanne Chabot de Jarnac, wife of the first marshal of La Châtre, then to their son Louis de la Châtre. By more or less narrow family ties, the heirs of Louise-Henriette de La Châtre, daughter of Marshal Louis and wife of Claude Pot de Rhodes, kept Egreville until the French revolution , The estate then passed in the 19C to other characters too long to mention,

We have walked in the area and would like to have an imprint in my blog on the wonderful towns of my belle France, There is so much to see , doing my best, and glad found me these older paper pictures which now transposing in my blog for you and me, The pictures are old ,so the quality may not as good but the memories are forever, Therefore, here is my take on this is Égreville !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Égreville is located in the dept 77 of Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region of my belle France. The town is located south of the department at the limit of the departments of Loiret (45), in the Centre-Val de Loire region, and Yonne in the Bourgogne-Franche Comte region. It is 20 km from Nemours, 26 km from Montargis, 100 km from Paris, 111 km from Meaux, 103 km from Versailles, and 529 km from my current house, The town is crossed by the A6 autoroute or highway.
What took me here was the Musée Jardin Bourdelle , This was built in the 1960s by Michel Dufet and his wife Rhodia, daughter of Antoine Bourdelle (sculptor). The museum exhibits in its garden 57 sculptures by the artist including a bronze of Heraklès Archer. We can also see the reliefs L’Aurore and the twilight, intended for the house of the widow of the great historian Jules Michelet and executed in 1895. They testify to the Bourdelle assimilation of a decorative spirit, between symbolism and Art Nouveau. In Art Deco style, the Bourdelle-garden museum, The location of each status was precisely determined, more depending on the decorative effect than in relation to a didactic representation. Their objective was to create an outdoor counterpoint at the Bourdelle museum in Paris, of which they had been crafted a few decades earlier, and thus magnify the art of the sculptor. The sculptures are presented outdoors in a splendid 7000 m2 garden where flowers mixed with bursts or roses, conifers in palisades or columns, fruit or decorative trees, shrubs in curtains or bouquets, Very nice indeed.
