This is Brueré-Allichamps !!!

We have walked in the area and would like to have an imprint in my blog on the wonderful towns of my belle France, There is so much to see , doing my best, and glad found me these older paper pictures which now transposing in my blog for you and me, The pictures are old ,so the quality may not as good but the memories are forever, Therefore, here is my take on this is Bruère-Allichamps !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I. The town of Bruère-Allichamps is located in the dept of Cher No18, in the Centre-Val de Loire region of my belle France. The town is one of the seven claiming the title of center of France, and, historically, the first. The town was created in 1884 by the merger of Bruère and Allichamps. It is 41 km from Bourges, 205 km from Tours, 68 km from Châteauroux; 285 km from Versailles, and 537 km from my current house. The Abbaye de Noirlac was founded in 1136 by a monastic community which created a local order of Cistercians there, the act of donation which allows the beginning of the constitution of the heritage is 1150 ,it is one of the best preserved Cistercian abbeys. Acquired by the Department of Cher in 1909, restored from 1950 to 1980, It passes, like the other abbeys, under the regime of the commend to the 16C, was seriously damaged under the Fronde rebellion, but restored in the 18C. Sold as national property during the French revolution, without being divided into lots, then transformed into a porcelain plant in the 19C. It houses an orphanage for a short period, then served a moment of Spanish refugees, and finally annex to the Hospice de Saint-Amand. Paradoxically, these different assignments have enabled its relative good conservation since the buildings are reused, and therefore preserved, it is currently a cultural meeting center, a member of the European network of Cistercians centers. The Cistercian rules impose a strict separation between the double community made up of monks and convers. The organization of buildings, in Cistercian architecture, ensures compliance with this separation. The main buildings are organized around the cloister with four galleries which is a traffic space reserved for monks and which provides access to all the buildings intended for them. Beyond the buildings grouped around the cloister develop the commons (which today house the ticket office), the cemetery (it has disappeared), the gardens to the east, and the old entrance, now incorporated into the small town. Bruére-Allichamps abbaye de Noirlac front c2009 The gateway to the cloister dates from the 18C redevelopment. It is at the corner, next to the cellar. It is through this door that access to cultural events that take place in the cloister. The current cloister dates from the 13-14C. The primitive cloister is older; The gallery is dates from the start of the construction of the church, in the middle of the 12C. The northern gallery provides access to the abbey church by two doors, one giving in the first span, reserved for convers, and the other in the last span, reserved for monks. The gallery is served the sacristy ,which itself communicates with the church, the chapter room, the 18C staircase of access to the monks’ dormitory and the heater. In the Eastern Gallery, very close to the church, you can see a stone arceau: it was the 12C crypt that would have contained the skeleton of Father Robert. The southern gallery (whose vault collapsed during the use of the abbey as a porcelain factory) serves the refectory and the kitchen. The western gallery does not open to the building reserved for converses to which the monks did not have access. The church is built according to the needs of the Cistercian liturgy. The choir is shallow, with a single altar, a flat bedside, two side chapels, on each side opening onto the transept. The nave successively welcomes, the monks, the infirm and the sick, and the convers, the aisles are reserved for hosts and servants. It was certainly an important Roman necropolis. The Château de Châteaufer (1670). Almost all of it name as national monument such as the main building in full, the chapel at end of the commons , the facades and the roofs of the two buildings of commons located in the pre-court, the entrance gate and the closing wall of the ditches, the forecourt, the courtyard and the garden, The column (Roman Trivium Milliary), erected by the Roman Emperor Caracalla ,at the beginning of the 3C, this milestone indicated the 3 directions of the Roman road: Avaricum – Aquae Neris – MedioLanum Castrum (Bourges – Néris les Bains – Châteaumeillant). Before arriving at the current location, it traveled well: at the fall of the Roman Empire, the Visigoths took it into the Roman cemetery of Allichamps where it was transformed into a sarcophagus. It was discovered by the prior Pajonnet in the middle of the 18C, and, after many adventures, it was installed at its current location on the RD 2144 road, that is to say 200 meters from its initial location A bit of history or anecdote I like tell us that during the Spanish civil war, it was one of the internment camps for the household assignment of the Spanish refugees. They were only 55 in early January 1939. But it was mainly at the time of the collapse of the Spanish Republic, which caused the Retirada,or withdraw from Spain, that refugee arrivals were important.
