In my road warrior runs in my lovely Bretagne/Brittany/Breizh , I have come across many towns, all quant nice and memorable, As such, the region is divided into four department and one pending, This is Cherruiex in the Ille et Vilaine dept 35 , I found some older pictures not in my blog yet and they should, Therefore, let me tell you about the curiosities of Cherruiex !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I Cherrueix is nestle between Saint-Malo and Mont-Saint-Michel and populated by only 1,160 inhabitants in the heart of the mythical bay of Mont-Saint- Michel. From the seaside, on a clear day, you can see from left to right on the beach to Cancale, the islands of Chausey, Granville and finally Mont Saint-Michel. You will love the beach and especially the views !!! The plage de Cherrueix beach is swimmable at high tide , and need to be careful as the sea rises very quickly. At low tide (swimming impossible, the sea recedes very far), it becomes a huge playground for sand yachting. The beach is very wide and has a park for children as well as many benches so that you can admire the comings and goings of the tides. It is also possible to bring your meal as a picnic area is available next to the public toilets with disabled access. There is the Le Train Marin or marine train which allows you to discover, depending on the tides, the Banc des Hermelles and the wooden fisheries dating from the 12C. Another plus is the beach offering a magnificent view of the sea, the bouchots at low tide, Cancale and Mont Saint-Michel. Many sand yachts enliven the landscape. cherrueix-le-train-marin-office-oct22 The char à voile or sand yachting has been practiced on the town’s 7 km of beach for more than forty years. The town has already hosted the European Championship as well as the French Championship and has hosted the world championships of sand yachting. It has applied for the organization of the European Championships.  cherrueix-plage-char-a-voile-running-oct22 Other things to see are the Moulin de la Saline, the Moulin de la Colimassière, and the Moulin des Mondrins. These three 19C windmills. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde is a statue of the Virgin erected in 1888 on the dyke facing the shore and the English Channel which at low tide recedes 7 km away. The manoir de l’Aumône or manor of alms is a former castle, residence of the lords of  Aumône. It is of Louis XIII construction, the lord of Aumône were considered as founding lord of the parish. After becoming a farm, it is now converted into a rural gîte and a stopover gîte. A campsite is also set up there and can accommodate tents and caravans. The Dike of the Duchess-Anne or Dike of Brittany, a dyke dating from the 13C and extending 20 km long from Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes (point of Château Richeux) to the Sainte-Anne Chapel.
