The City of San Francisco is also on the county of same name in the State of California USA,It is between the Pacific Ocean and the Bay of San Francisco. The city is nicknamed the City by the Bay, It is 616 km from Los Angeles, and 914 km from Las Vegas, I came from Paris to the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) about 13 km south of the city, in the county of San Mateo, on the banks of the Baie de San Francisco. San Francisco probably has the densest public transport network on the western coast of the United States. The municipal public transport network is managed by the city. It includes the city tram network (especially in light metro), including cable cars, and a bus network and trolleybus, When in San Francisco you need to take the cable cars !!! San Francisco is famous for its cable cars, but also for the fifty hills located inside the limits of the City, A “hill” here is defined by an altitude of more than 30 meters. Some of them correspond to a district, such as Nob Hill, Pacific Heights, Russian Hill or Telegraph Hill; Others are public gardens or parks like those of Twin Peaks, Mont Sutro, Mont Davidson and Buena Vista. Others towards City center are Mount Sutro, surmounted by the Sutro Tower. Nearby are the Twin Peaks, two just as popular hills, forming one of the highest points in the city. About 1,5 km stands the highest point in San Francisco, Mont Davidson, at an altitude of 282 meters. A cross of 31 meters high was put up there in 1934. The Cable Car Museum 1201 Mason St, was founded in 1974, it exhibits cable cars from San Francisco and presents the history of city tram transport. Several islands belong to the City of San Francisco such as Alcatraz, Treasure Island, and Yerba Buena Island, as well as small sectors of Angel Island and Red Rock Island, near the Richmond-San Rafael bridge. The Farallon Islands, located in the Pacific Ocean 44 km from the city, depend on the city, but are not inhabited and serve as a nature reserve. Several bridges connect the city to the banks of the bay: the most famous are the Golden Gate bridge, and Bay Bridge, which links San Francisco and Oakland. Other than the island and bridges to enjoy in San Francisco are Coit Tower an Art Deco style tower built in the 1930s, at the same time as the Golden Gate bridge. The oldest museum is the California Academy of Sciences: founded in 1853, this institution is devoted to science. The Asian Museum of Art. It is the richest Asian art museum in the world after that of Taipei (Taiwan), The Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco, is the largest art institution in the city and one of the greatest museums in California. The Museum of Modern Art of San Francisco (SFMOMA) is devoted to contemporary art. It opened in 1935 and was then the only museum of this type on the west coast of the United States ,The Opera is the largest opera in the United States, after the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It was founded In 1923 by Gaetano Merola and was inaugurated with a representation of Tosca, October 15, 1932. The Roxie Theater from 1909 is the oldest cinema in the city still active. The Castro Theater is distinguished by its Hispanic architecture from the 1920s ; this cinema currently has 1,407 seats. The Harding Theater and the Golden Gate Theater date from the same time. The best known and the largest of the green spaces in San Francisco is the Golden Gate park, this vast park is rich in natural and cultural points of interest such as the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden and the Botanical Garden of San Francisco .Other points of interest in the city, there is Baker Beach as well as Ocean Beach, another beach which runs along the west coast of San Francisco and often frequented by a community of surfers. Be careful of the rough waters,

A bit of history I like tell us that the City was founded in 1776 by Spaniards within the vice-royalty of New Spain, the city is appointed in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. It was part of Mexican territory until 1848 ,when taken by the Americans, It took off during the gold rush and its extension, the embellishment of San Francisco by the millionaires of Nevada. Then it became the cradle of jeans with the Levi Strauss & Co. foundation. The 1950s saw the birth of the Beat Generation and the city was in the 1960s the epicenter of the Hippie Movement, San Francisco is near the San Andreas faults, which crosses the Bay region from north to south, and Hayward, which explains the frequency of earthquakes in the region. The two main earthquakes that touched the city are those of 1906 and 1989 (7.1 on the Richter scale). The city was then quickly rebuilt, in particular thanks to the influx of a foreign workforce from Europe and Asia. After, WWII, a first peace conference met in San Francisco. It led on June 26, 1945 to the signing of the UN Charter by fifty countries. In 1951, the second “peace conference” was held there and led to the Treaty of San Francisco. This treaty came into application on April 28, 1952 and ended the occupation period (of 1945-1952 in Japan.
