The town is 5 km from Rohan, 28 km from Ploërmel, and 51 km from Vannes, .It is about 51 km from my house,As an anecdote here in 1484, the first printing press in Brittany was installed when the town’s name was Bréhan-Loudéac, by the will of Jean Rohan-du-Gué-de-l’Isle. Two printers put it in place, Robin Foucquet and Jean Crès. Twelve books printed in Bréhan have reached us, The town is name simply Bréhan since 1977. The Church Notre-Dame was rebuilt on the ruins of the old church between 1880 and 1884, the parish church of Bréhan was inaugurated and consecrated on September 10, 1884. In neo-Gothic style, this large coated stone building is drawn on the plan of a Latin cross. It was completely demolished at the end of the 19C and replaced by a Gothic-style building consecrated on September 10, 1884. The preaching pulpit and the baptismal font grilles date from the 19C. brehan-ch-notre-dame-nave-to-altar-nov22 The Church Notre-Dame has as the old church, in the shape of a Latin cross, with a large tower to the north, was largely Romanesque. It had two chapels, one of which was called the “Chapel of the Holy Rosary”. The altar was dedicated to the Guardian Angel. On November 3 1769, the squire Yves Pierre de La Villeloays, lord of Beauval and Penhouët, and on November 13 1776, the squire Claude Gabriel de la Villeloais of Beauval, were buried in the church, near the balustrade. Inside, the chapel located in the north arm of the transept is dedicated to Saint Louis, while that located in the south arm of the transept is dedicated to Saint Anne. brehan-ch-notre-dame-chapel-virgin-nov22 The town of Bréhan and its heritage :https://www.brehan.fr/ornaments/patrimoine There you go folks, another dandy in my Morbihan, always amazing finds, I continue in my road warrior trips, the best way to see and know the country, any country, Again hope you enjoy the post on the Church Notre Dame of Bréhan, part II !!!  as I.
