The Church Saint Pierre of Plélan le Grand !!

The town of Plélan-le-Grand is located 38 km from Rennes, 82 km from Vannes, and 95 km from my house, It is in the dept 35 of Ille et Vilaine and in my lovely Bretagne, The name comes from the Breton Ple (parish) and Ian (Hermitage) or the parish of the Hermitage or monastery. It is at the border of the Forest of Paimpont aka Brocéliande on the N24 road between Rennes and Lorient. The town of Plelan-le-Grand is at equal distance from the Atlantic ocean and the English Channel or about 80 km, Let me tell you a bit on the Church Saint Pierre of Plélan le Grand !! Hope you enjoy the post as I Plélan le Grand This magical land of Brocéliande of the Merlin fame you know… Truly enjoying the town and one of the places we finally went as a family and after seeing reading hearing the stories of king Arthur and Merlin was here in the forest of Brocéliande.  The other major town for it is Plelan le Grand. Plélan has been called Plélan-le-Grand since the presidential decree of 1920. The Church Saint-Pierre was rebuilt between 1850 and 1853 at the implementation of the Prioral Church. The latter mentioned in the 12C depended on the abbey of Saint-Melaine de Rennes. From this ancient church remains the northern 16C chapel and the bell tower dated 1620, whose ringing of bells calls the daily life of the Plélanais (locals) today. The organ was built in 1856,then moved , and installed in the bottom of the choir of the church in 1976. The church was dedicated in the 12C to Saint Peter, prince of the apostles, the church mentioned in the 12C, preserved this patronage. plelan-le-grand-eg-st-pierre-nave-to-altar-apr14 plelan-le-grand-eg-st-pierre-fr-altar-to-back-apr14 Only the Chapel of Sainte-Anne remains original. It was destroyed in the three quarters, was rebuilt between 1850 and 1853. At the site of the old building still remains the North chapel, remarkable for its frame with sculpted pits that can go back to the 16C On entering the Church, one can admire the altar with its bas-relief representing the tomb by the Angels done in 1858-1859, as well as the choir stalls from 1852. It is built In neo-Gothic style, this red schist building has marked the revival of religious architecture in Ille-et-Vilaine and is a major heritage element for the inhabitants of the town as well as a curiosity for visitors/tourists alike. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
