The Chapelle Notre Dame de la Recouvrance of Ploëmel !!!

Again, this is another find looking at older post realise only briefly mentioned this monument in a combine post so therefore ,I have taken it out singlely as they deserve a post of their own. This is Ploemel in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne. Therefore, here is my story of the Chapelle Notre Dame de la Recouvrance of Ploemel !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I The town of Ploemel in the heart of a triangle between Auray, La Trinité-sur-Mer and Étel. The town is 137 km from Rennes, 138 km from Nantes , 105 km from Quimper , and 21 km from my house.The bus 18  passes by here from Auray so not even need a car!  Ploemel a small town furthest from the ocean ,you have wonderful small city center. However, the main is the Chapelle Notre Dame de la Recouvrance next to fountain,  The Chapelle was done between 1560 to 1563 and a pilgrimage site for the fisherman and seamen in the area ,and there is a big pardon on August 15 each year. It has limited hours and appointments are necessary to see it The chapel was a place of pilgrimage for the mothers and wives of sailors without news of their absentees. On the day of forgiveness, it was customary for them to throw pieces of bread into the fountain. If the bread sank, the sailor and his boat were lost. The exterior decoration, still flamboyant, with its doors in basket handle inscribed under hugs between pinnacles pilasters, is very rich, in particular the western portal and the bedside, whose window contains some fragments of old stained glass windows. The western door (dated the 1560s) in a basket handle is decorated with a hug that supports two figures, a dog and a man . An outdoor stone bench, accompanied by a thick molded headband, goes around the chapel. The chapel is covered with a frame with heads of crocodiles, with inscription on the sand pits. In the choir are a pond and an Eucharistic wardrobe with flamboyant decoration. ploemel-chapelle-notre-dame-de-la-recouvrance-front-sep22 The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Recouvrance is done in the Flamboyant Gothic style, also called Late Gothic. The painting were recently found and finished their work in 1995 ; the most recent illustrate scenes from the passion of Christ. The chapel located a few meters from the main Church Saint André (see post) overlooks the Route d’Auray road. Dedicated to sailors , this chapel is written in its walls covered with murals illustrating themes like the passion of Christ (late 18C ,early 19C) and an ex -sailor voter. A Virgin and the Child appear at the top of the fresco. Some attribute the features of the characters to Sainte-Anne and Marie. However, devotion to the grandmother of Christ developed in the 17C and this is how the most important pilgrimage of the time in Morbihan, the sailors now coming to confide in Sainte-Anne. Although this galleon of the 17C was armed with 12 Sabord cannons, is it really a warship or a commercial ship, thus armed for its protection during long trips. The ex-voto pavilion unfortunately could not be identified and it is by no means a ship of the India Company, the establishment of it in Port-Louis and Lorient dating from the second half of the 17C, the city of Lorient having been created for its part in 1666. ploemel-chapelle-notre-dame-de-la-recouvrance-back-sep22 One nice thing to see here is the fountain laundry of Recouvrance , It is located next to the chapel above, it is covered with a pyramidal roof surmounted by a cross, confined to the corners of four small pyramidons with balls. Against the interior wall of the fountain, a bodied console supported the statue of the saint, that has disappeared. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
