Looking at my blog , saw an older post with this picture in it that was in the wrong spot me think, I have been by Ploeren plenty of times not far from me and decided to give it justice to the picture ; do read/see my other posts on the town, This town of course is in my beautiful Morbihan and lovely Bretagne of my belle France, Therefore , here is my take on there is a statue of liberty in Ploeren !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Ploeren sits on the edge of the RN 165 Nantes − Brest expressway, a few minutes from Vannes, surrounded by Plescop, Plougoumelen, Baden, Arradon and Vannes. Other favorites roads that can get you here are the D127 and D19, It is service by the same bus network as Vannes ,the Kiceo on bus lines 10 and 11. Which of course never taken, come here by car always. It is a major crossroad of shopping area which we enjoy coming. It is located 10 km from Vannes, 51 km from Lorient, 122 km from Rennes, and 23 km from my house
On my road warrior ways passed many times by Ploeren, and see the replica statue of Liberty on rue des Glènans greetings motorists along the Nantes-Brest Expressway (voie express N165). Installed in the business park of Coëtdigo, it measures 7, 20 meters high. It was purchase in New York and brought back by boat to Ploeren, The statue was part of the hotel chain Liberty

Other things to see in Ploeren are the Church Saint-Martin 15C (see posts), the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Béléan 15C. The manoir or mansion de Kerverec from the 15-16C, and the Château du Mézo from the 18C (now hotel restaurant).
A bit of history I like tell us that Ploeren was long before the French revolution when the noble families of Vannes liked to own a farm which brought in a significant income. Even Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV’s kmsuperintendent of finances, (Vaux-le-Vicomte non fame) was no exception to the rule. This happened in 1656. In the overhaul after 1789 revolution, Vannes incorporated part of the parish of Ploeren, but to rebalance the territory, Tréoguer and Le Lain ,formerly on the parish of Plougoumelen were integrated into the town. Many local folks engage with Georges Cadoudal (Chouan general who fought the French revolution ,see posts). They risk having their property confiscated or even losing their lives. But whatever ! The list is long of the farmers taken prisoner. The First Empire saw the state of the town stabilize; of course, as everywhere, everyone is reluctant to conscription. But peace sets in and the town became prosperous, although it is rather shabby in appearance with its rutted roads. During WWII, two military planes, one allied, the other enemy, crashed in the town: on August 12, 1941, a Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4 crashed, killing its pilot; on May 29, 1943, a B-17, the Concho Clipper serial 42-29838 of the 8th US Army Air force 351th Bombardment Group, 509th Bomb Squadron (RQ) crashed causing 4 deaths among the crew members. A ceremony common to the two crashes took place on November 18, 2006 in the presence of Charles B. Woehrle, the last survivor of the crew, and the mayor of Dorum, a town twinned with Ploeren, representing the German pilot.
Others in my lovely Bretagne are in Cléguérec , 49 km from my house, A reproduction of the statue of Liberty, done in 1875 as part of a France’s gift financing operation in the United States, Another one at Gourin, only 74 km from my house, a replica of the statue of liberty, testimpny that at the end of the 19C and at the beginning of the 20C, Gourin experienced a very strong emigration to North America. Many of the Bretons living currently in the United States are from the Gourin region. (see posts), Up in the Côtes d’Armor dept 22 you have Plaintel , 83 km from my house, There is a woodn replica of the statue of Liberty, in the middle of a roundabout at the entrance to the town to honor the woodman traditions of the area ; it was erected in 1996,
