Hope you enjoy the post as I.

And one been in briefly once is and need to be back , the Musée Marmottan-Monet since 1993, is a Museum of Fine Arts. It presents in particular a collection of art objects and paintings from the first empire, as well as works by impressionist painters including the largest collection in the world of works by
Claude Monet . The museum is located in the 16éme arrondissement near(back) of the Jardin du Ranelagh (see posts). The main entrance is 2, rue Louis-Boilly. The site is served bymetro line 9 at La Muette (taken many times too) . The stations of avenue Henri-Martin and Boulainvilliers de la Line RER C are also nearby. Bus line 22, arrêt or stop: La Muette-Boulainvilliers, line 32, stop: Louis Boilly or Ranelagh, line 52, stop: La Muette-Boulainvilliers, line 63, stop: Porte de la Muette, line 70, stop: Louis-Boilly as well,

In 1882, a hunting pavilion located near the Bois de Boulogne, belonging to the family of the Duke of Valmy, was bought by Jules Marmottan and transformed into a mansion by his son Paul Marmottan. The manoir then hosts a leading collection of the father, passionate about the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and his son Paul, passionate about the first empire. When he died, in 1932, Paul Marmottan bequeathed his manoir house and his collections to the Academy of Fine Arts which made it a museum which opens to the public in 1934, The collections of Paul Marmottan, bequeathed in 1932 with the mansion which houses the museum, include works by primitive Italian, German or Flemish painters as well as sculptures, tapestries and old stained glass. Most of the collections is however devoted to the art of the first empire with a rich set of furniture (Jacob, Bellangé, Thomire, Feuchère …), sculptures (Canova, Chaudet, Chinard, Pajou, etc), objects of ‘arts, paintings, Among which works of the greatest artists of the period like David, Ingres, Gros, Girodet, Fabre, Boilly and in his gallery of portraits, François Gérard, Louis Gauffier, Carle Vernet, etc.

In 1966, Michel Monet, last direct descendant of Claude Monet, bequeathed the personal collection of paintings and 89 paintings from his father. The academic architect and curator of the museum, then built a room under the hotel park to receive this collection, inspired by that of the large decorations of the Musée de l’Orangerie (see post) and inaugurated in 1970, In 1993, the grandchildren of Berthe Morisot, Denis and Annie Rouart, bequeath their collection through their foundation (25 canvases, around fifty watercolors and the collection of impressionists in their grandmother). This makes this museum the depositary of the first world fund of works by Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot, thanks to the legacies of the grandsons of the artist Denis and Julien Rouart and their wives in 1993 and 1996, the museum has the most important world collection of works by Berthe Morisot, pupil of Corot and wife of Eugène Manet, himself brother of Édouard Manet. The museum thus retains 81 works by the artist between paintings, watercolors, pastels and drawings, in addition to a deposit of seven drawing books. We find in particular in the collection of Au Bal of 1874, Eugène Manet and his daughter in the Jardin du Bougival of 1881 or Le Cerisier of 1891,

The Musée Marmottan-Monet has the most important collection of works by Claude Monet in the world (94 canvases, 29 drawings, 8 drawing notebooks, its pallets, its letters, photographs, personal objects). The whole career of the master of Impressionism is traced through his paintings and his drawings his most famous works are exhibited at the museum: In particular the famous impression, the soleil levant, (rising sun), which is the first painting properly Impressionist ,and which also gave its name to the movement, so say the experts, Sur la plage à Trouville (on the beach in Trouville) of 1870, Portrait de Poly ( portrait of Poly) of 1886, Pont japonais, and La Barque (the Japanese bridge, and the boat) of 1887, Parlement de Londres :Reflets sur la Tamise ( Parliament of London :. Reflections on the Thames) of 1905, Cathédrale de Rouen, effet de soleil, fin de journée ,and the Nymphéas (Cathedral of Rouen, Sun Effect, end of the day and the Nymphéas ) from 1916 to 1919. Around Claude Monet, all the great masters of impressionist painting, but also postimpressionist, are present as well as other painters less known to the general public, helping to make the Marmottan-Monet museum one of the most complete in the world for these two major movements of the 19C art. Over the rooms, we find works by Eugène Boudin, Johan Barthold Jongkind, Camille Corot, Caillebotte, Degas, Manet, Berthe Morisot, Pissarro, Armand Guillaumin, Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin, Alfred Sisley, Paul Gauguin, Paul Signac, Albert Lebourg, Henri Lebasque, etc.

Located in a residential area 7 Place Denfert-Rochereau, along the Bois de Boulogne, in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts de Seine 92) , the Library and Villa Marmottan was built between 1890 and 1920. donated to the Academy of Fine Arts, it is the work of Paul Marmottan, rich heir who devoted his life to the history and art of the first empire. Having become a real cultural pole turned towards art and research, the library and Villa Marmottan will welcome, at the end of its important renovation, both researchers and amateurs and anyone wishing to enjoy their unique atmosphere and its charming garden of Mediterranean inspiration.

A bit on the quartier La Muette no 62 of the 16éme arrondissement of Paris, Previously corresponding to the western part of the old town of Passy, located on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. The Muette neighborhood extends, from west to east, from Bois de Boulogne to the Seine river, from north to south, avenue Henri-Martin and the axis of Place du Trocadéro at the Pont d’Iéna in the Trocadéro gardens at the rue de l’Assomption. Its territory corresponds approximately to that of the old parish of Passy before the creation of the village of Passy in 1790. It then passes some rearrangements until the annexation of 1860, the eastern part of the Plaine de Passy, Passy was one of the three ancient constituent villages of the 16éme arrondissement with Chaillot and Auteuil. It then gave its name to the part of the borough located north of the Auteuil district, while the corresponding administrative district took that of La Muette for only a part.

The chaussée de la Muette owes its name to the proximity of the Château de la Muette which had its entrance gate at 20, Chaussée de la Muette. The origin of the name comes from this proximity, the name of “mute” being attributed to the houses used to keep the mues of deer and to remove the falconry birds throughout this period of moult. Under the monarchy, the castle was indeed a remarkable hunting relay , The remarkable buildings are,me thinks: No. 8: Home of the writer Henry Bordeaux. He lived there for twenty-five years and died there on March 29, 1963. A commemorative plaque pays tribute to him, inaugurated in 1973 At No 19: Gare Passy-la-Muette train station, on the old line of the petite ceinture beltway. Open in 1864, it was transformed into a restaurant in the 1980s (My Fav La Gare now closed), The painter Camille Pissarro, originally from the Danish Antilles, studied in Paris in October 1855, the year of the Universal Exhibition, and moved with his family to La Muette

The porte de la Muette is located 500 meters north of the Porte de Passy and 900 meters south of the Porte Dauphine, at the junction of Boulevard Suchet and Boulevard Lannes at the Place de Colombes in the extension of Avenue Henri Martin. The gate constitutes access to the Bois de Boulogne, as an extension of the Jardin du Ranelagh, and constitutes one of the greenest entrance gates to Paris, This area is, since the installation of the OECD ( Organisation de Coopération et de Développement Économiques ), in 1948 (see post), a diplomatic district. The organization occupies the new Muette castle and its park

The things to see here even passing are the Château de la Muette, Maison Balzac , Maison de la Radio, the Museums Clemenceau, Homme, Vin, Marmottan Monet, and National Marine, The Monuments to see the Churches Notre-Dame- De-Grâce de Passy, Notre-Dame-de-l’Assumption of Passy, Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Saint-Sacrement , Protestant temple of the Annunciation, and parent company of the nuns of the Assumption, In the cemetery of Passy are buried such personalities as Edouard Manet, Georges Mandel, and Claude Debussy.
