As said, come here often and never tired of seeing this lovely town of Auray in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne, and in my belle France. The town itself is smallish and all can be done on foot, but it is full of wonderful architecture and history of three countries France, Canada ,and the USA. Just need to read my post on Auray to realise this. I have stopped by again today ,and took new pictures for the blog, Therefore, here is my latest on curiosities of Auray, part X !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
We walked by the wonderful covered market or Halles at the Place de la République, right next to the Hôtel de Ville built in 1782, Really an extension of it as upper level of the market connects with the City Hall,

The Place de la République, formerly called “grand placître”, sometimes “place du Martray”, has been the economic and political center of Auray since the Middle Ages. They are home to well-known families such as at no. 48 (pharmacy today), stands the birthplace of Pierre Le Gouvello de Kériolet , famous penitent. At the pharmacie des Halles is where my Dad and I came to be vaccinated vs covid19 !

From the above square, you continue on the right side into Rue Jean Marie Barre a very much frequet street when lived nearby, Here you see still our favorite merchant, like the eyeglasses store Optic 2000 ,and Yves Rocher bio comestics so dear to my dear late wife Martine,
We went over quickly to the port area or Saint Goustan, here the Auray River is a ria that begins at Auray, empties into the Gulf of Morbihan and is navigable. The length of its water course is 56.3 km ! The Auray river or the ria du Loch, another name given to the river. But is it really a river or already the Little Sea? Indeed, the degree of salinity is such that oysters can live on the pillars of the Pont d’Auray , a stone bridge of only 35 meters long. Beautiful sights indeed and at night even better !

Going over the stone bridge at Saint Goustan you come into the wonderful Place Saint-Sauveur with its curved cobblestones is framed by opulent half-timbered and corbelled houses. The steep alleys, interspersed with steps, attack the district, lined with half-timbered facades. The residences of the 15C and 16C display a respectable allure, which in the evening slums in the rustle of the café terraces.
