I am back in lovely Morlaix north of me in department Finistére no 29 of my lovely Bretagne , and in my belle France. I have written before on the city of course, and just came back from another visit. This is my last post of a wonderful trip, and bring back memories of my family’s visits over the years, Of course, we needed to eat so all is in one post, this one, The city is 58 km from Brest, 85 km from Saint Brieuc, 38 km from Lannion, and 143 km from my house, I like to tell you again on the culinary delights of Morlaix !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
And finally , we look to eat, This is the Le Grand Café de la Terrasse. All dress up with its taste of yesteryear, is a must to be here. A brewery since 1885, the establishment, located on the Place des Otages, has indeed evolved while retaining its charm of yesteryear. As soon as you enter, you are struck by the chic of the room, the splendor of the period ceiling and the presence of the grand staircase. The welcome is friendly, the cuisine is done with taste and without fanfare. You can also enjoy the terrace and the warm decor for a simple coffee during the day. This is the Le Grand Café de la Terrasselocated at 31 Pl. des Otages , and we came in for a glass of beer (Grimbergen and Armoria) sort of like an apéro as food was closed; to remember the days of family visits now with less of us. Always remembered them, they gave us everything.

We came a bit late realising we are in France ,and this will never get used to even after 21 years here, While looking for a place to eat past 14h walking the beat we came upon a place had heard about it but never tried, Well ,this is the moment to try O’Tacos !!! The resto is at 2 rue de Brest between the place des Otages, viaduc, rue du mur and maison de la Duchesse Anne, The right spot to see all of Morlaix and even when school was out early as wednesdays !! I had me the Doritos o’Tacos and the triangle cheddar with a tiramisu noisette for dessert all down with a Fanta soda, My boys had other stuff and double because they eat like well young boys ! All for about 20 euros per person ok,

I used to buy online from them but as was in the area decided to visit their store on site on our way back home, for a pleasant visit, Took home our Mexican coffee from Chiapas , cider and fish condiments all fresh and locally done, simply the Breton best ! They get their coffees from Brazil to Colombia, to the depths of Papua, the sensory profiles of our cafes are rigorously selected by our team. Bios, pure arabica and pure origin, we guarantee an impeccable provenance of each green coffee that we transform and sell on the French market. Once in Morlaix, the grind and packaging are carried out in our workshop by a team of people in a situation of Handicap !. Depending on your coffee machine, it is essential to choose the right version, if not, the quality of the coffee obtained will not be optimal., Suitable for manual espresso machines, it is the finest of mix. The objective is that the period of extraction is between 20 and 30 seconds. Italian version , little less fine than the Espresso version, this version is adapted to Italian percolators (or “Moka” coffee makers). The extraction time varies between 2 to 3 minutes. Filter milling ; this version is moderately fine and is suitable for electric commercial machines with filter door. The coffee infusion time is longer, about 4 to 5 minutes. The Piston version is the most coarse grinding. It is suitable for piston coffee makers (French Press) and Slow Coffee equipment (Hario, Chemex, etc.). The infusion time is between 4 and 5 minutes. Of course, we love our coffee so we have manual expresso machine as well as Italian, The above is translated at best from their webpage, They are located at Grain de Sail 4 Rue du Bas de la Rivière, Morlaix.

A bit of history I like tell us that Grain de Sail was created in 2012. The company is launched on the idea of selecting, producing and selling qualitative products with high added value in order to finance the construction of a cargo sailboat capable of transporting raw materials in an environmental friendly way. In 2013, we first opened a first coffee roasting workshop, followed by chocolate factory in 2016. In October 2018, we signed the construction contract for our first Cargo sailboat. Almost 2 years later, the ship left the shipyard in the Nantes region and made its first transatlantic crossing in November 2020. A second Cargo sailboat, twice as large took the sea for the first time on March 15, 2024, in the direction of New York. And the story continues.
