I am back in lovely Morlaix north of me in department Finistére no 29 of my lovely Bretagne in my belle France. I have written before on the city of course, and just came back from another visit. This is my post of this wonderful trip, bringing back memories of my family’s visits over the years,The city is 58 km from Brest, 85 km from Saint Brieuc, 38 km from Lannion, and 143 km from my house, I like to tell you again on the curiosities of Morlaix, part III !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The wonderful historicall house of Anne de Bretagne. There are several in Bretagne on places she visited some true some not, this one is true. It is at 33 rue du Mur. The House known as the Maison de la Duchesse Anne, is a jewel of the Morlaix heritage located in the old market hall, was built around 1530.

The tourist office of Morlaix is in the historical Maison Penanault,(see post) 10 place Charles de Gaulle.

The city or town hall of Morlaix as for architecture. The name in Breton of Morlaix is Montroulez . It is more likely that Morlaix takes its name from the Latin appellation of the Roman settlement Mons Relaxus.

The bandstand or kiosque à musique was donated to the city of Morlaix by Auguste Roparts president of municipal music in 1903. The bandstand is located at Place des Otages ,near the viaduc.

The carrousel Morlaisian carousel is open all year round at Place Émile Souvestre behind the City/town hall, this carriage with authentic charm has pretty frescoes representing this charming port city.

The Les Morlaisiennes, now houses the Monoprix store, In 1910, it was called the Grand Bazaar a large building, with its Art Deco facade, dominated the rue d’Aiguillon and the rue de l’Audience. It was in 1955 that the Monoprix brand succeeded the Nouvelles Galeries also named the Morlaisiennes. A food radius was created, it closed in 1979, at the opening of supermarkets.

The Petit Train or little train is taken under the viaduc at Place des Otages,The little train will guide you along the quays of the marina and tell you about its rich and prosperous past. Then, it will make you discover the narrow alleys of the old city, its half -timbered and lantern houses of the 16C. A wonderful ride at least once me think,

The former Place des Halles are now call the Place Allende , this is where the old halles or covered market was initially. In order to build the imposing halles in 1867, the old halles and the neighboring district were razed, a total of 22 houses. The new halles or covered market (see post) were more than a simple covered market, they were also a meeting place for the local Morlaisians.
