I am back in lovely Morlaix north of me in department Finistére no 29 of my lovely Bretagne in my belle France. I have written before on the city of course, and just came back from another visit. This is my post of a wonderful trip, and bring back memories of my family’s visits over the years,The city is 58 km from Brest, 85 km from Saint Brieuc, 38 km from Lannion, and 143 km from my house, I like to tell you again on the Church Saint Mathieu of Morlaix, part II !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Church Saint Mathieu,at 32 Rue Basse , the tower is one of the first Renaissance buildings in the area. It houses an opening statue of gilded wood from the late 14C. When opened it offers a carved trinity and painted scenes from the new Testament. The statue of Notre Dame du Mur from the Cologne (Germany) region was commissioned by the Brotherhood of Weavers of Morlaix. The Church also houses a beautiful organ, the late 17C buffet containing an instrument of Heyer (1873).
The current Church Saint Mathieu was built in 1824; it replaces a Gothic church dating from 1498, succeeding itself to the primitive priory Church probably Romanesque. The Bell Tower, it, dates from the 16C. It is one of the first witnesses of the Renaissance style in Brittany.

I came by and it was closed but need to have these pictures in my blog for the memories of always and my visit, Do read/see my other post on it with more pictures, It is a must see in Morlaix, me think.
