Let me tell you a bit about Bénodet, in the Finistére dept 29 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France. As the coasts around here are all wonderful. There is so much to see in architecture and history but the beach is tops, We made the best of the day and visited other towns. However, Bénodet was it, as a five stars beach area. Bénodet is easily reach from my house; about 94 km and a little more than an hour along the N165 to exit that tells you Bénodet, here take the road D44 and just follow the signs ! There is a beautiful pleasure boat marina or port de plaisance in Bénodet, We love to be amongst these magnificent boats and great seafarer ambiance that reminds me of my beginnings in life, I will translate the City site in a condense manner for more clarity, me think,
Located at the mouth of the most beautiful river in France, the Odet houses the marina of the seaside resort. This port in town has been forged, from Vauban, a solid international notoriety with its bay protected from the anger of Éole. Accessible in all times, at any time whatever the tide and the type of boat, the marina welcome you with its 500 places on Ponton and its 250 places on a buoy. The visitor pontoon is also easy to access for people in wheelchair.
From the old port of Bénodet, you have the choice to explore the charms of the Atlantic Ocean or the Odet river. In the season, a place of departure for cruises on the Odet and towards the Glénan archipelago, as well as the crossings of Bénodet in Sainte-Marine with the P’tit Bac (water taxi on the bay) . On site, you will find, the Vedettes de l’Odet maritime company, for wonderful cruises and of course loaded with shops and restaurants.
A bit of history I like on the ports ,tell us that in the years 1920-1930, the first specific installations for pleasure were set up. Pontoons and moorings are built to accommodate the boats of wealthy tourists who began to frequent Bénodet. The 1950s and 1960s saw a significant increase in the number of boaters. During this period, several nautical clubs were born in Bénodet. These clubs play a crucial role in promoting sailing and nautical activities. The Odet Yacht Club (YCO) was a key player in the development of pleasure in all its forms in South Brittany. Over the years, it has established himself as the initiator of prestigious regattas, transforming Bénodet into an unmissable stopover for crosses and a privileged place for nautical gatherings. Today, the marina of Bénodet is a modern and well -equipped port, capable of accommodating several hundred boats. It offers a full range of services, including maintenance and repair of boats, restaurants, nautical shops and leisure equipment.
