The town of Plénée-Jugon is located 100 km from my house, 62 km from Saint Malo, and 69 km from Rennes, The name of the town comes from the Breton “Plou” (parish) and Saint Neot or Niet (9C) or from a Celtic Saint with the name Nith. It is a former primitive parish which once included in addition to the current territory of Plénée-Jugon, those of other 6 towns. The story of Plénée-Jugon is linked to the foundation on October 15, 1137, by Olivier II de Dinan, on his territory of the Cistercian abbey of Sainte-Marie de Boquen (see post) , emanation of that de Bégard. The decadence of the abbey is from the 16C-17C, The town is formed from 33 villages !

The Church Saint-Pierre is located at rue de la Fontaine, of the 15C, destroyed except the North Tower rebuilt in the 18C, then again in 1844 , It is attached to the parish of the Pays de Jugon in the diocese of Saint Brieuc and Tréguier. The church is placed under the patronage of Saint Peter. It was built in the Latin cross plan with three nerfs, The northern side bell tower built in large stone, the turret gives access to a staircase in work serving the floor of the bells; and is covered with an octagonal roof, The chapel on the ground floor of the bell tower is vaulted with warheads. The sacristy is backed by the bedside.

The Church Saint Pierre includes a nave with low sides of five spans, a transept at the end of the northern wing of which is the bell tower and a choir confined to two chapels. With the exception of the bell tower, the current church, started in 1843 was blessed on Easter Tuesday, March 25, 1845, and consecrated on May 28, 1876. We read on its frontispiece “Glory to God. 1843”

The lower floor of Bell tower, pierced with burry and a deep rooting window, is vaulted internally from an eight -sided vault from the last years of the 15C. The old church of Plénée, which dated from the 13C, had occupied the same location. A vault-bell tower dates from the 15C. This old monument has been preserved from a very heavy tower at the base, which was once fortified. A round tower, from the 15C, provided with an inner screw staircase is attached to one of the buttresses The upper part of the tower was rebuilt in 1739 , The church contains a large absidial bay from the Boquen abbey, The baptismal font, made up of a double tank carried by two older columns, date from the 16C. There is a reliquary dating from 1579-1870 containing several relics and figurines (the Virgin, Saint Peter and Saint Christophe): it was restored in the 19C, the church contained an armorized in the family of the Moussaye (around 1600) With two recumbers located at the base of the tower, in the moussaye chapel. In modern stained glass see Saint Lunaire and Saint Melaine,
