We are in summer, and we have boundless beauties in my belle France and especially in my lovely Bretagne ! I set out again to known and new territories in my road warrior mode of always that took me to neighboring departments in the north of Brittany, I came back again to the beautiful wonderful stunning corsair City of Saint Malo !!. My idea was to see old and new so I came back to do some walk warrior trails, and of course, we saw the markets! I have many posts on the City in my blog, but this one is a repeat visit, Therefore, let me tell you about the markets of Saint Malo, part II !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The Halle au Blé is the large market hall of Saint-Malo, like the Halle aux Poissons, on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Saint-Malo residents and tourists will find all the usual market shops there. Outside of Tuesdays and Fridays, it hosts temporary exhibitions. The Halle au Blé is located at 10 rue des Cordiers, built in 1822, was intended for meat, butter and poultry. In 1892, it was enlarged with a metal structure. The side parts with their granite arcades recall the architecture of the previous hall..

The Halle aux Poissons or fish market, octagonal in shape, with cast iron pillars. It was destroyed during the bombardments of the city in 1944 (WWII). The one we see dates from 1954 and replaced by this new concrete and slate hall. The entrance is adorned with a sculpture called the orbiche and which represents a Roussette or Sea Dog, in the shape of a small shark. The frame, visible from the inside, is beautifully opened and has sculpted elements in the shape of stylized fish. All around the construction, the beams that overcome the stalls are engraved with an inscription in the shape of a humorous quatrain: the sea carries us. The tide deports us. The fisherman takes us. And,this is where he brings me.
