I am back in coastal gorgeous Locmariaquer in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne in my belle France, I came to a familiar place so close to my house only 28 minutes. I was with the boys and our dog Rex and decided to have a ride even on a cloudy day of 26C about 79F, Therefore, here is my take on the curiosities of Locmariaquer , part II !! Hope you enjoy it as I.
Locmariaqueris located at the western mouth of the Gulf of Morbihan and has many beaches overlooking the Bay of Quiberon, western part of Mor Braz which opens access to the Atlantic Ocean. Love to come here for a drink or lunch across from the bridge into the sea.
The Crêperie les Îles were founded on March 1, 2012 just in time for my family to move in with me in the area, We have come here several times ,and today was a leisure ride and walk so decided to stop here again for lunch, The restaurant is wonderfully located on the port, opposite the Gulf, and benefits from a most pleasant terrace. On the program, good galettes and crêpes as well as copious salads.

I had my galette with cheese and chorizo and my sons took on the mussels in roquefort cheese all wash down with a rosé from the area of Béziers Vignes Antique with the grape Cinsault, nice and refreshing all well done, good friendly service and our dog Rex was serve a bowl of water twice ! All for less than 19 euros nice !!!
Not to leave some wonderful pictures out we walked by the nice historical Church Notre-Dame de Kerdro ,just on a side street very close, This church have a couple posts on it so simply tell you here is a Romanesque style church, built between 1082 and 1120 by the monks of Quimperlé, the transept and the choir are the surviving elements. The church is done in a Latin cross, the intersection of which is a square tower of 1817 with a Bell Tower on slate The façade bears the Latin inscription “HIC Domus dei” or”here is the House of God“. The south gate is protected by a porch in advance; It is topped by a crest bearing the words “Haec Porta Coelli” or “this is the gate of heaven”.

The port of Locmariaquer is a vibrant spot with great views and pretty marina with plenty of stores and restos going from the inland square to the port area square or Place Dariorigum such as previuosly l’Escale and again the Crêperie les Îles.

On the marina side on port Gulvin there is always beautiful sunrise and sunset with a nice view of the Gulf of Morbihan The coastal path which connects the marina and the town at the port du Guilvin will enchant you. In less than 10 minutes on foot, you will reach the Guilvin pier to take the shuttle to Locmariaquer. The shuttle to the Île aux moines or the boat from Locmariaquer for a gulf tour with a stopover at the Île aux moines. Between Locmariaquer and the Rhuys peninsula, the boat is more practical! Locmariaquer and Port Navalo (Arzon and see post) mark the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan. As a small km separates them, there are more than an hour to connect them by car! By boat, the journey becomes a pleasant walk through the currents of the Gulf.
