This is a special post on a special race the family on my dear late wife Martine follows dearly every year, We have been away from it as only been lately when passed by my region in Saint Anne d’Auray in 2021 and Saint Avé in 2015, Before, that we went couple times with the family at Pau, Therefore, let me make this special post on the fabolous Tour de France bike race. I have written before on the Tour de France in my blog on the cities we have been, one picture for the memories of my Dad Elio. The Tour de France, the most prestigious cycling race, will start its 111st edition in Florence on June 29, 2024 (today) ,and will end in Nice on July 21, instead of the Champs-Élysées, due to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. This edition is marked by a demanding route with climbs from the fourth day, white paths in Troyes, an altitude record at the Cime de la Bonette, and an explosive time trial in the last stage. Italy will be the 13th foreign country to be crossed by the Tour de France.

This will be the first big departure in Italy and the 26th that’s taken place abroad, Thefirst final in Nice, due to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Taking Place in Paris, Therefore, the race will not finish in the French capital for the first time !! The number of countries visit in 2024: Italy, San Marino, Monaco and France. Within France, the race will pass through 7 regions and 30 departments. 12 out of a total of 39, the places or stage towns that are appearing for the first time are in order of appearance: Florence, Rimini, Cesenatico, Bologna, Piacenza, Saint-Vulbas, Gevrey-Chambertin, Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, Évaux-les-Bains, Gruissan, Superdévoluy, and Col de la Couillole. There will be a total of 176 riders in the starting line, divided into 22 teams of 8 riders each. A Total of 2.3 million euros will be awarded to the teams and riders included 500,000 € to the final winner of the overall individual classification.

As said, the first stage of the Tour de France 2024 will be today Saturday, June 29,2024 through Tuscany and Emilie-Romagne between Florence and Rimini. With an ascent of 3,600 meters, this first day of the Tour de France will offer one of the the most difficult departures of the modern history of the Grande Boucle (big loop aka tour de France). A sacred introduction for competitors with seven notable climbs, notably that of Saint-Marin with 7.1 km at 4.8% inclination.

Stage 1 Florence a Rimini 206 km , 2 Cesenatico a Bologne 199,2 km , 3 Plaisance a Turin 230,8 km, 4 Pinerolo a Valloire 139,6 km, 5 Saint Jean de Maurienne a Saint Vulbas 177,4 km ,6 Mâcon a Dijon 163,5 km, 7 Nuits Saint Georges a Gevrey-Chambertin 25,3 km inidivual trime trials, 8 Semur en Auxois a Colombey-Les Deux Eglises, 9 Troyes a Troyes 199 km , 10 Orléans a Saint Amant Montrond 187,3 km, 11 Evaux les Bains a Le Loiran 211 km , 12 Aurillac a Villeneuve sur Lot,203,6 km, 13 Agen a Pau 165,3 km ,14 Pau a Saint Lary Soulanpla d’Adet 151,9 km, 15 Loudenvielle a Plateau de Beille 197,7 km 16 Gruisan a Nîmes 188,6 km 17 Saint Paul Trois Châteaux a Superdévoluy 18 Gap a Barcelonnette 179,5 km , 19 Embrun a Isola 2000 144,6 km, 20 Nice a Col de la Couillole 132,8 km 21 Monaco a Nice 33,7 km individual time trials.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
