The Church Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens was built from 1766 to 1787, It was build on the foundation of 4 other churches, The first dates from 570, the second from the 11C and the third from 1350 with its crypt still exists today. The contemporary church was built with the stones of the 13C Chapel Saint-Jean of the château de Kerjean with the cross of the old cemetery was embedded in one of its walls. It has a form in pine in the shape of a reversed boat hull. This church has a single nave and cruciform with 2 side chapels and an oven choir. Its square porch has an imperial dome, and its bell tower serves as guide to navigators.

At the vault, a suspended model like ex-voto, in memory of the sailors who died at sea. The altarpiece dates from the 17C. Christ on the Cross, in painted wood, dates from the 16C. The carved granite font dates from the 17C. The altarpiece is from the 18C with a large sculpted wood Christ and brick and polychrome . The marble baptistery dates from the 19C, We have the name of two chapels of this church, the Chapel Saint Jean serving as enfeu to the lords and the Chapel of the Rosary.

Over the centuries Piriac sur Mer was a strategic high place both by its situation not far from the mouth of the Vilaine river, and by the presence near its coast of the Île Dumet. The latter was indeed occupied by the English in the 18C, before this small port of Loire-Atlantique started its cod fishing on the benches of Newfoundland in the 19C. Referring to its past, the Church Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens presents a schooner three dry sail, white and black color, responding to the sweet name of “Etoile de la Mer”, or star of the sea ,a work made in 1869. A stained glass window honors sea pleasure, in a sailboat being drawn to the sea.
