I bring you back to one of the off the beaten path monuments of my beautiful Morbihan , and lovely Bretagne. Again, found me older pictures that were not in my blog and they should be, Therefore, let me tell you about the Abbey of Notre Dame de Langonnet, part III !! This is really the town and the abbey all in one, Hope you enjoy the post as I.

As you can see from been part III , there is plenty written on it and additional pictures in my blog already, So the text will be brief just to put in the newer pictures, Do enjoy all the parts, it is a wonderfully beautiful abbey church in quant Langonnet.
After various transactions, the missionaries of the congregation of the Holy Spirit settled in the Abbey. Nowadays, they still occupy it . Currently the Abbey is as follows: three-body logis Horseshoe shape enclosed by the Church, built around the cloister. Massive and modest, the bell tower is typically Cistercian. The Hall or room of the chapter shows an already fine Gothic art, with this elegant arch lowbed based on thin pillars. Its capitals are decorated with clover leaves, acanthus, Ivy or oak. The architecture of the chapter room is always very neat. Each morning, the monks gathered there to read a chapter of the rule of Saint Benedict, commented on by the Father Abbot, who then read the tasks of the day.

From the abbey founded in 1136, only the chapter room of the 13C remains. The abbey, as it presents itself today, is from about 1750. occupied in 1806 by a stud farm, it was in 1858 reoccupied by the Holy Spirit congregation. Today is a rest and retirement home. An African art museum is open there. You visit the chapter room, the cloister, and the typically Cistercian bell tower. The surroundings are forest and pleasant. Can’t help tell you more of this wonderful monument , a must to visit me think.

An ogival door framed by two twin bays, right and left, gives access to the chapter room. The room was once a carpet of slabs which covered some tombstones. One of the stained glass windows represents Saint Maurice receiving the body of Raoul, bishop of Quimper (1158). The stained glass windows are illustrated the life of Saint Joseph. The stained glass windows of the west facade illustrate Conan III handing over the property titles, Saint Maurice receiving the Corps of Raoul, bishop of Quimper, and P. Libermann receiving his missionary vocation of the Holy Heart of Mary. The Congregation of the Holy Spirit. Above the front door, a stained glass window, in the shape of an eye carries the coat of arms of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, with the motto “Cor Unum and Anima una” (one heart and only one soul). The Grand Chapel , edified in the 13C, this abbey chapel was restored in 1858. A recumbent in Saint Maurice, second abbot of Langonnet Abbey ,and founder in 1175 of the Carnoët monastery, where he died in 1191. A recumbent Saint Bernard, placed above. A sculpted cross pronouncing the last words on the cross. A lying of Saint Octave under the high altar, young martyr of the early days of the Church. The stalls done between 1920-1922 of the Grande Chapelle or grand chapel ,is works of the Holy Spirit congregation.
