I once again found me more pictures not in my blog on this church and they should be, This is in my road warrior local mode in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 in my lovely Bretagne of my belle France! Therefore, let me tell you more of the Church Saint Pierre of Arradon, part II !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Arradon is located on the coast of the Gulf of Morbihan which is 120 km from Rennes and Nantes. This town is bounded to the east by the Vincin river. It borders the cities of Vannes, Ploeren and Baden. Thus, it is part of the agglomeration of Vannes. And only about 30 minutes from my house! The wonderful Church Saint Pierre is located in city center, at 2 rue Louis Quilleré, It is of gothic style begun in 1885 and finished in 1888.

The Church Saint Pierre has inside three paintings ; a painting representing a “Sacred Heart of Jesus surrounded by cherubs” dated from the 18C and located in the southern transept, a painting “the deploration of Christ dead”, dated 1847 and located in the ambulatory, and a fresco representing “the Virgin tending her son to children and a crucifixion”, located in the Baptismal Fonts The church, also, houses a statue in wood from the 17C of Saint Vincent Ferrier (that visited Arradon in 1419 while evangelizing the area coming from Valencia Spain, his body lies in the Cathedral Saint Pierre at Vannes-see post)) , also the statues of Saint Pierre and Saint Roch. The clock in the south nave dates from 1895. The belltower is 45 meters high. The organ is from 1898 and last renovated in 1969.

The Church Saint Pierre is an imposing Gothic style church It replaces the old church deemed too small and dilapidated at the time. The church was built between 1885 and 1887. The old church was located right next to the new church, ocated at Place de l’Eglise, it dates from the 15C and was half amputated in 1889. The square of the transept of the end of the 16C and the choir of the old church were preserved and transformed into chapel The choir became the nave and there were two crossbids and a shallow choir to the west. The nave was destroyed in order to recover the stones for other uses. Today you can find several elements of Gothic styles, as well as a decor representing the Trinity in the middle of cherubs, painted in 1783 The new church is in granite rubble, tower and steeple in freestone and the vaults in Saint-Savinien stone.
