The Church Saint Gurval of Guer !!! , part II

The town of Guer is located in my beautiful Morbihan department 56, in my lovely Bretagne of my belle France. It is bordering the Paimpont forest, often identified as the mythical forest of Brocéliande, where the legend of Merlin the enchanter, the fairy Morgane and the fairy Viviane is woven. Indeed magical area ! I have found me older pictures not yet in my blog and they should be, Therefore, let me tell you a bit more of the Church of Saint Gurval of Guer !!! , part II, Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The wonderful Church of St Gurval, there was a church here since the 9C when it was mentioned of the arrival of St Gurval as ermite in the 7C and gave its name. The actual church is built from 1807 to 1847,in the form of a Latin cross, with new renovations done in 1870. It is a wonderful church. According to legend, Saint Gurval set up his hermitage on the site of the current parish church. This Saint Gurval Church replaces an old church destroyed by a fire on January 25, 1795.

The western part of the nave as well as the bell tower were added in 1845. The church has four bells, the oldest of which dates from 1808. The Saint Gurval Church treasure contains three silver reliquaries: the most beautiful, from the 16C, is a small shrine whose lid is decorated with reclining statuettes representing the saints whose relics are preserved in the box , the relics of Saint Gurval, Saint Apolline, Saint Andrew, Saint Bartholomew, Saint Nicholas, Saint Virginia and relics from the cross of Christ, and the two others, more recent (17C) have, one the shape of a cross, the other that of a case. The banner of Saint Gurval, work of the embroiderer Gabriel Juvigné, dates from 1737, The creation of the choir furniture and side altars dates from 1899. In 1923, the paving with a path in mosaic was created. You can see a reliquary of St Gurval from the 15C and a half relief in alabaster from the 15C.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
