And here ,I am again telling you found me older pictures new to the blog that should be in it, This is a wonderful area of the Rhuys peninsula or Presqu’Île de Rhuys, and need to tell you more. I have come Arzon by land and sea,been about an hour from home by car. I like to tell you more of  the Church Notre Dame de l’Assomption of Arzon, part IV !!! Hope you enjoy it as I

Arzon  is in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 ,and in the lovely region of Bretagne of my belle France. Located at the end of the peninsula. it is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Morbihan, to the south by the Bay of Quiberon, western part of Mor Braz (Atlantic ocean), and to the east by the town of of Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys (see post).

 Always nice to come into City center Arzon and visit the Church Notre Dame de l’Assomption . The parish church was completely remodeled in the 19C, but the site is, in fact, much older. Indeed, historically, the town of Locmaria (now the town center of Arzon) has developed around a priory, a small monastery dependent on the great abbey of Redon. The site consisted of a chapel, monks’ accommodation and a tithe barn. Only the latter survived, south of the current church. The Church Notre-Dame de l’Assomption was restored in 1815. In 1848-1849, the bell tower was built (consolidated in 1890) and the nave was lengthened. The blessing of the two bells took place on June 5, 1855. It has been restored several times: the sanctuary (in 1880), the vault (in 1920). A complete renovation of the interior of the church took place in 1951. In the Choir, there is an 1890 copy of the “Immaculate Conception of the Venerables”, a 1678 masterpiece by the famous Spanish Baroque painter, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo the original of which is on display at the Prado. Long exhibited in the Louvre, this copy would have joined Arzon during the works of 1951.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
