In 1858, the capital of the old parish of Saint-Enogat was transferred from the village of this name to the town of Dinard. The church that was Renaissance style Latin cross form, was demolished except the tower. In 1867, a new parish was created in Saint-Enogat and a new church was built between 1872 and 1874, reusing the tower of the steeple-porch dated 1761. And this is the Church Saint Enogat , Bits and pieces gather from different religious sources tell us a bit more, The statue of Saint-Enogat was, it seems, older than the altar and had been solemnly transported on January 8, 1634 from the Priory Church to the Saint-Enogat Church. Its northern chapel, dedicated to the Rosary, the lordship chapel of La Crocheis was decorated in November 1727, A painting at the altar of the Rosary, representing the story of the Rosary, for which there must be four principal figures, namely the Virgin, the child Jesus, Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine, and cherubim, for the ornament of the said painting, which will be painted on good oil canvas; also wishing to have the figures of Saint Gilles and Saint John painted which accompany the said altar.
The main altar was restored in 1781, The Saint Enogat Church was blessed for the first time on June 14, 1874 and then solemnly on February 23, 1880. The main altar was built in 1866. The pulpit dates from 1877. The sanctuary was blessed on July 12, 1867. In 1880, the altar of the Sacred Heart was placed in the church. In 1931, a gallery was built at the bottom of the nave. At the beginning of 1932, 4 chandeliers were installed in the church which would complete the lighting of the altar reredos. A Cavaillé Coll organ was purchased on October 26, 1952.
The walk around the neighborhood is super, with beautiful Enogat beach, (see post) lovely grand, chic very classic as the city is known to be.
The Notre Dame Church is on a hill overlooking the wide boulevard des Maréchaux. it is so off the beaten path and little information is published even in the city tourist office or city/town hall. From scratching from several religious sites I was able to find bits of information.
The Notre Dame Church was done on a single plane of three naves and has stained glass windows. The first mass was celebrated there on January 10, 1858 but the structural work was not completed until October 1, 1858. The church has some old statues and a painting of the Resurrection from the Saint-Enogat Church.
