I am back in my road warrior mode going this time to my backyard of my beautiful Morbihan, lovely Bretagne and in my belle France, I have come here before to pick one of my sons’ whor worked here and we patronise the local restaurant and visit the great brewery, I decided to come back to the area for memories’ sake. Therefore, let me tell you about the curiosities of Val d’Oust or former Le Roc Saint André !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.
In my beautiful area, the monuments, sights and plain fun are forever. We are just kicking in for more in my road warrior trails, Stay tune to this mine and yours blog. The original village had a simple chapel ,the Chapel of Rotz which became in 1608 the Chapel of the Roc and at the French revolution, Pont du Roc. First erected as a town in 1790 and in parish in 1802 , the town takes in 1951 the nameof Le Roc-Saint-André, and last became, on 1 January 2016, a common delegate of the new town of Val-d’Oust. It merges with the towns of La Chapelle-Caro and Quily (see posts).
There is my favorite brewery in all of Bretagne, Lancelot (see post) , and may memorable moments as one of my sons worked here and we came often. Even had lunch at the La Chaumiére resto, Lovely country town in deep Morbihan.
The Brasserie Lancelot (Lancelot brewery) in Le Roc Saint André at the Parc Artesanal La Mine d’Or or industrial park of the Gold Mine. Which since those days , the town has change its name in 2016 ,and is now call Val d’Oust or something like the valley of the Oust river. The brewery was founded in 1990 and started developing beers right away until 2002 they went into cola soda making with the regional brand Breizh Cola already with a 15% market share in the region of Brittany! In late 2020, the Brasserie Lancelot owners sold majority interest to the Coopérative Agrial, which is base in Caen , dept 14 of Calvados. They were already makers of popular cider brands here such as Loïc Raison and Kerisac. This time they were close but see my other post on it for details.

Restaurant La Chaumière at 6 rue Nationale ,The restaurant offers traditional cuisine with a menu of the day. A carte menu of galettes and crêpes are also offered. You can enjoy the large terrace in the enclosed garden behind the restaurant where a trampoline is installed. Open every midday, closed on Monday. From Friday to Sunday, also open in the evening. The atmosphere and the decor put the Breton tradition in the spotlight and, with it, conviviality. Even if no time to eat in, we stop by always a nostalgic spot when getting our son and having lunch with the family there, Memories forever ! Webpage : https://www.lachaumiere-valdoust.fr/
