The town is located in the department 22 of Côtes-d’Armor in my lovely Bretagne region, It is located 47 km from Rennes, 54 km from Saint Malo, and 108 km from my house. The town of Caulnes is a dismemberment of the ancient primitive Gallo-Roman parish of Yvignac. Caulnes (Cauno) first mentioned in 1181, It is on the Rennes – Saint-Brieuc axis of the road N12. It is ,also, serve by the TER trains Brest – Rennes – Paris line ,gare de Caulnes train station.

The church of Cauno is mentioned in 1185. Caulnes is named as a church or parish from 1187, The Church Saint-Pierre and Saint Paul origins remains uncertain since the various constructions or reconstructions have dates which differ. extend from the 12C to the 16C ,and even into the 19C. The portal has a statue which could be from the 13C or the Gothic period, Placed under the name and protection of Saint-Pierre, the church preserves a statue of the apostle. The interesting part of the church is the bell tower, the base of which dates from the 15C, and the upper part from the 18C. It is a two-story square tower. The bell tower-porch dates from 1769: the bell tower was restored in 1848.


The Church Saint Pierre et Saint Paul nave dates from the 20C. The altarpiece, in painted wood and which is located in a chapel dedicated to the Virgin, dates from the 17C ; in the center is a painting representing Saint Anne, the Virgin and the Child Jesus. The altarpiece of the chapel of the Agonisants includes the arms of the Hay family of Couëlan. The granite statue of Saint Peter dates from the 13-14C. The stone statue of the Virgin dates from the 20C. The polychrome wooden statue of Saint Anthony dates from the 17C. The wooden statue of Saint Joseph dates from the 18C, Altars from the 18C; sundial dated 1676; ancient oak statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul (in the presbytery), of Saint Peter in stone outside the church, of Saint Anne, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Anthony, hermit, inside . Modern glory in the back of the church, made in 1846; stained glass windows from 1886.
