The town of Treffléan is located in my beautiful department of Morbihan 56, and in my lovely region of Bretagne. The road N166 towards Rennes then D775 towards Questembert and finally D116 towards Treffléan, 7 km from Elven and 12 from Vannes. With a territory of 1,800 ha, bordering the towns of Theix-Noyalo, Sulniac, Elven, Saint-Nolff and Vannes. This is one I passed so many times lost count near my old job, but finally went into City center/downtown,(see post) Therefore, let me tell you about the Church Saint Léon of Treffléan. Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Saint-Léon Church restored in 1840 and in neo-Romanesque style ,except for the choir. The tower, the sacristy, the porch and a reliquary are on the south side, From this church dating from 1575, only the tower and the staircase are preserved in the current church. The statues of Saint Apolline, the Virgin of the Assumption, etc, and her chalice come from the Chapel of Bizole which had been donated by Tanguy Le Sénéchal, Sieur de Tréduday. The pulpit dates from 1895. The church also houses a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Leon and a granite font placed on a column-shaped base. Following a fire during the night of October 30 to 31, 1912, the church was almost entirely rebuilt in 1912-1913 with the bell tower dating from 1992.

Nearby ,the Saint-Léon fountain dates from the 17C, it is a square monument, open on three sides by lowered arcades. It is crowned with a regular pyramid dominated by a cross. This pyramid has a fleuron on one of its faces, and on the other a cross engraved in a circle. It evokes the emblem of the Templars whose presence the town of Tréffléan is disputed. The order was founded in Jerusalem in 1118, the order of the Templars , but did not appear in Brittany until the middle of the 12C. If we go down to the 18C, we find the order of Malta composed in Brittany, not including the county of Nantes, of three main commanderies under the great priory of Aquitaine, and each formed of several members who had formerly been themselves separate benefices under the title of commanderies, then successively united to compose larger endowments.
