Again, back in my road warrior mode in my beautiful Morbihan, The possibilities are endless and I am just starting, really ! I ,again, found some pictures not in my blog and they should be, Therefore, here is my new take on the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Timadeuc of Bréhan, part II !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.
The town of Bréhan is located in my beautiful Morbihan department 56 in my lovely Bretagne of my belle France. The town is 5 km from Rohan, 28 km from Ploërmel, and 51 km from Vannes, .It is about 51 km from my house, As an anecdote here in 1484, the first printing press in Brittany was installed when the town’s name was Bréhan-Loudéac, by the will of Jean Rohan-du-Gué-de-l’Isle. Two printers put it in place, Robin Foucquet and Jean Crès. Twelve books printed in Bréhan have reached us, The town is name simply Bréhan since 1977.
The Abbey Notre-Dame de Timadeuc is an abbey of Cistercian-Trappist monks located in Bréhan in the Pays des Rohan, right off the road D2 in a village of Timadeuc part of Bréhan ,and not far from the Oust river and the Canal Nantes Brest. It was founded on July 22, 1841 by three monks from the Abbey of La Trappe in Perche.

The Abbey Notre Dame de Timadeuc, former seat of the lordship which belonged to the Tymadeuc family, then successively to the Cosquat, Tilly, Jocet and du Bot families. Purchased in 1841 by the Cistercian monks of the abbey de la Trappe in Normandy, the manor is included within the enclosure of the new Trappist abbey of Notre-Dame de Timadeuc. The manor once had a private chapel dedicated to Saint-Julien , it was rebuilt at the beginning of the 16C. It occupied the place of the current inn of the monastery. The group of buildings, forming a quadrilateral, enclosed a courtyard which was entered, on the east side, through a gate built in masonry under a slate roof. At the back of the courtyard, facing the gate, stood the main house, behind which was the orchard. In addition, the ends of the building were garnished to the west with two turrets serving various purposes. The northern side of the quadrilateral was formed by a dome-shaped pavilion connected to a second main building, then a barn 27 meters long. To the east, there was a lean-to, a stable, the gate, a building containing the two ovens and the press, a pavilion containing several rooms and an attic; Finally, on the south side, there was a final stable through which one accessed the garden and a covered gallery which connected it to the main building. The noble house also had at the eastern end of the large wood which sheltered it to the north and east, a chapel dedicated to Saint Julien and one of the stained glass windows bore the arms of the Timadeuc: gules with three silver scrolls.
