I was back in my road warrior mode going up to the northern parts of my lovely Bretagne to see new towns! The search is never ending with the abundance of beauties around here. I came upon this town and it was nice again! Therefore, let me tell you about the Chapelle et Fontaine des Carmes of Quintin !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Quintin is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department 22, in my lovely Bretagne region, only 16 km from Saint-Brieuc, and less than an hour from my house. Strategically, the town is at the crossroads of the routes which go from Saint Brieuc to Quimper via Rostrenen on the one hand and from Guingamp / Châtelaudren to Lorient via Loudéac on the other hand. I went there on my way back on the D7 then D700 and finally the D768 roads, easy rides !
Chapelle et Fontaine des Carmes,2 bis Rue des Carmes In 1619, the Carmelites settled in Quintin, building a church and a convent, which disappeared after their sale as national property during the French revolution. In the Parc des Carmes (or Roz Maria) garden there remains a granite set of three basins and a fountain. The fountain consists of a granite gable surmounted by a port and open with a niche into which the water flows. The structure is followed by a succession of basins which it supplies with water, the flow taking place by a gravity system.

The chapel built in 1620 and placed under the name of Notre-Dame de Bonnes Nouvelles is today destroyed, however it fulfilled the role of parish church from 1764 to 1790. In this 17-18C garden, there remains an ensemble including a fountain and three basins. It was in 1978 that the town of Quintin acquired the former convent and its garden. The Carmes building and its chapel will preserve their architectural authenticity. The city wants to deconsecrate the chapel so that it becomes an exhibition hall, a small auditorium.
