The Saint Aubin Church of Yffiniac !!

I was back in my road warrior mode going up to the northern parts of my lovely Bretagne to see new towns! The search is never ending with the abundance of beauties around here. I came upon this town and it was nice again! Therefore, let me tell you about the Saint Aubin Church of Yffiniac, Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The town of Yffiniac is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department 22 in my lovely Bretagne region. The town is on the N12 road, 7 km from Saint-Brieuc as well as about an hour from my house !

The Saint-Aubin Church, located at Rue de l’église/Rue Sainte Anne replaces an old church. The current church includes a nave with aisles of five bays plus that of the embedded bell tower, a transept and a choir. The blessing of the first stone of the current building took place on July 25, 1858; and the church was completed, minus the tower, in 1860. It was consecrated on October 25, 1863. The tower was built in 1874. It was built on the classic model of the Latin cross plan, in neo-Gothic style, very fashionable at that time, It is modern with the exception of the ancient statues of Saint Brieuc and Saint Guillaume Among the statues adorning the side altars: Saint Cado and Saint Yves. Dedicated almost exclusively to worship, it hosts the Sunday mass of the Notre-Dame-de-la-Baie parish which covers an area of 7 towns located near the town of Saint-Brieuc, The interior of the Saint Aubin Church houses 18C polychrome statues of Saint-Guillaume, Saint-Sébastien, Sainte-Barbe, Saint-Antoine and Saint-Brieuc as well as a 19C painting by Raphaël Donguy.

There you go folks, another dandy ride into the wonderful beautiful Bretagne! A region for all seasons indeed. This was another nice trip of your road warrior traveler and it was fun! Do stay tune for more exciting facts !!!  Sadly, not much info on this church !!  I must add according to newspaper articles, the church was last renovated in 2022. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
