The Church Saint Pie X of Vannes !!

Well in my turns and twists around my lovely Bretagne sometimes life goes so fast no time to see it all and do not realise the bounties available in your own town even less area of living. I took a ride out just to stretch and see Le Port which was lively as usual, However, in my road warrior trip thru familiar territory saw a bell tower could not believe it passed by there a zillion times but never off the main road, This time went to see this belltower and behold another beauty of my capital city of Vannes in my beautiful  Morbihan. Therefore, let me tell you all news on the Church Saint Pie X of Vannes !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Church Saint Pie X ,located at rue Saint Pie, was built between 1956 and 1959, This was a local effort to create a church to service the neighborhood of the Madeleine. The construction of the church was place under the patronage of Saint Pie X . The parish of Saint Pie X was created on December 22 1959. The choice of the name was link to the canonisation of Pie X by Pope Pie XII on May 29 1954.

The Church Saint Pie X was raised on land given by the Taslé family , The church was inspired by the Church of Riese, native town of Pope Pie X , and answer a wish asked by the abbe Moisan after his return from Italy wishing to show the model of that Italian church,The nave measuring 41 meters by 13.5 meters is flanked to the west by an aisle housing the baptismal font and the Virgin Chapel ,The upper part of the nave is lit by large bay windows, while the lower part is decorated with a Stations of the Cross painted by André Mériel-Bussy. The fresco in the choir representing the Last Supper is by André Mériel-Bussy. The stained glass window, work of the master glassmaker M. Lorin ,from Chartres, dates from 1959.

All of the buildings: church, presbytery, sacristies, parish rooms, are organized around a cloister open on 3 sides which connects the different buildings to each other and the open-air liturgy for large meetings of the faithful. The Church Saint Pie X includes the baptismal font, the exorcism room, a winter chapel easily heated for small services. The single nave was designed to ensure good visibility of the altar and allow overhead lighting through narrow bays, more pronounced for the choir and the altar. The descriptive notice indicates a construction in masonry and not in reinforced concrete, slate roofs. In front you have a nice bell tower of 44 meters high,

The organ of the gallery at the back of the nave was ordered in 1968 from the organ builder Curt Schwenkedel from Strasbourg. The sideboard designed by Georges Lhote harmonizes perfectly with the large modern stained glass windows.
