I was again by my vault of pictures and wow ! Realise have many pictures from the markets of Vannes and not many in my blog !! I need to get this right,, this was our favorite spot every week when my dear late wife Martine was around, True we have not gone back in a while too strong but the pictures are memories forever, The market is one of the best , and running for the best of France competition where it has been ranked as high as 4 and always in the top 10 of France !!! This in my wonderful capital city of Vannes in my beautiful Morbihan breton dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France! So come on down and see one of the best of France !! Let me tell you more on the markets of Vannes, part III !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The big one outdoors can access by the place Lucien-Laroche, but also by Rue Saint-Vincent and rue Le Hellec, opposite the post office, where we parked in parking République. It is spread over the Place des Lices and the Place du Poids Public, that offer you all the fresh products you want. We come here for the cheeses, fruits, veggies, and odds on ends, The market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8h to 13h30. We go on the same street to Fromagers Bruno Menager, a wonderful selection of cheeses from all over France

Authentic and friendly, the market has become an entertainment in itself. From Place des Lices to Place de la Poissonnerie, via Place du Poids Public, you will meet local producers who will add flavor to your city trip. Greengrocers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, charcutiers… These Bretons have a sense of contact and a taste for good things. For the second year in a row, the Vannes market was chosen as the most beautiful market in Brittany, as part of the “your best market. This is from our usual wonderful fruit and veggies merchants of Morocco, Algeria, and Albania in the market at Vannes! Aksil Azeddine that originates the business from Saint Sebastién sur Loire/Nantes.

There are, also, a covered market Halles des Lices, and a fish market Halle aux Poissons on the same area,
The Halle aux Poissons or fish market will delight all the freaks of crustaceans, oysters, fish and even smoked salmon stand. This market is held all year round on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 8h to 13h30. Located in the place de la Poissonnerie. About twenty permanent traders in all. It is a wonderful building which we enjoy tremendously and shop profusionnally! In 1821, a first fish market, back of the buildings on Rue Saint-Vincent, was built on the place de la Poissonnerie, a place for fish markets since the end of the middle ages. The Gulf fishermen wishing for a larger and more hygienic building, a new Hall is made in 1880 of 35 meters in length and 13 meters in width, it is built in granite. Inside, 18 cast iron poles, some of which are adorned with scallops, support a metal frame.

The Halles des Lices or covered market are open every day from 8h30 to 13h30 except on Sundays and Mondays. During the summer season, they are open 7 days a week from 8h30 to 13h30 and on Friday afternoons from 16h to 19h30. Located on the place des Lices, allows you to fill your basket of good local products (vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats…), but also offers a few dishes to eat in for lunch in the middle of stalls on a tasting area. Thirty traders welcome you all year.

My favourite French man from history is Emmanuel Joseph Sieyès, I wrote my degree thesis about him. The great survivor. I still like Napoleon but not the weakling De Gaulle.
