Curiosities of Brec’h, part I !!!

This is a small town , but what a pack of architecture and especially history it has! I was lucky to lived in it briefly when first came into the Morbihan breton dept 56 from Versailles in the Yvelines dept 78 way back in 2011. And of course, I have written several posts on Brech in my blog. However, left some pictures out that believe should be in my blog, Therefore, here is my curiosities of Brec’h, part I !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

I lived and my first apartment in Bretagne/Brittany was in a village of Brech call Corn et Hoët, However, Brech is a group of 22 other villages namely Bonerfaven, Le Beudrec, Botergollec ; Brégoharne, Brézéhan, Calan , Corn er Hoët (my first town/village in Brittany! Breton name means edge of the woods), Kerdrain ,Kerglas , Kergornic ,Kerguéro , Kermané ; Kervalh ,Lann er Rheu; Lann Palvern ;Mané-Salut ; Penhoet ; Saint-Dégan is the biggest village and was probably founded in the 6C, par Saint Dégan; Saint-Guérin ; Tréavrec , Treumer, et Toulchignanet. In French it is written Brech, in Breton, is Brec’h and means mount or hill.

A great decisive battle was fought in nearby Auray which determine the future of Brittany in 1364 pitting two pretenders to the Duchy Jean de Montfort, the winner and Charles de Blois, loser but later Saint, A very religious neighborhood a cross was erected near the Champ des Martyrs in memory of Jean de Montfort and Charles de Blois ,the cross was done in 1842.

I like ,also, to include in this post a picture showing one of my sons’ and the truck that moved us to our current house in Pluvigner !! back in 2013 !!! My Dad Elio is in the back (RIP)

Where my boys took their bus no 5 to school while in Brec’h which was across the street from the apartment and we still pass by it almost every day today !! My son below coming home !!

And the Cani Couaf pet hair saloon where they cut our dog Rex’s hair, We came back after the Pluvigner store closed and came back to familiar territory !! The anecdote here is that they had a replacement cutter and Rex was not really comfortable, she had to call us to calm him down !!!  And the end of the story is this has closed too, here for the memories of always!

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
