I have come to this City several times and one of my favorites in my lovely Bretagne, Once came, and hungry stop by this unusual place for us, It is a hotel restaurant right in front of the Ville Close and we went in without reservation, It was a nice surprise and now a memorable spot in our lives, Hard not to visit it when in town, Let me put together some pics new to the blog and tell you a bit about the Les Grands Voyageurs Hôtel et Restaurant of Concarneau !! Of course, for the reference of always Concarneau is in the Finistére dept 29 of my lovely Bretagne, and my belle France.
We had to have lunch and we went as in several occasions to the restaurant in the Les Grands Voyageurs Hôtel across from the Ville Close of Concarneau. We ,of course ,not stayed but should be fun for the entire family, we always had our lunch here. Recommended by all who stopped here even French family visiting !!
For the memories of always as said , we passed by the Les Grands Voyageurs Hôtel Restaurant at 9 Place Jean Jaurès, We have eaten here with my dear late wife Martine, and brings back nice memories each time by even if not eaten there. The hotel is well place short walk across street to the Halles or covered market, 200 meters from the beach, 100 meters from Port de Pêch or fishing harbor, and 100 meters from the pleasure boat marina. As well as across from the Ville Close or fortified enclose town, (see posts)
Its geographical location offers you a breathtaking view of the Ville Close, the Fishing Port, and the Port de Plaisance. This big granite building is an entity. Indeed, since 1787, the building has been a Hotel. Gustave Flaubert,spent 3 weeks in 1875 which at the time the hotel was called Hôtel Sergent , and many more personalities, many artists have stayed at Les Grands Voyageurs like the Breton painters .Alfred Guillou and Théophile Deyrolle. The place was called: the Grand Hotel des Voyageurs, then in 1962 called Les Voyageurs, before resuming its titles of nobility in 2002 by being called Les Grands Voyageurs

After the launch of the Le Chantier restaurant in the rehabilitated stores near the fish market, in 2018, Guy Diquélou and chef Mickaël Rigous set off on a new adventure. During the month of February 2023, they took over the management of the Les Grands Voyageurs hotel/resto ! The restaurant should take the configuration of a Parisian brasserie or bistro ,while the hotel with 16 rooms, has the objective to go from two to three stars rating, The hotel part should be launched at the end of 2023 for a scheduled opening with the new decoration in 2024. One of the rooms could then be called Madame Bovary, in the form of a nod to the novel by Gustave Flaubert …Stay tune indeed!
