The town of Douarnenezis located at the bottom of the Bay of Douarnenez, and is part historically of the Cornouaille. For info it is only 120 km from my house, I was just there again for the memories of always now coming back with my sons and dog Rex, Many beautiful sights but we came up with the main ones me think, Therefore , let me tell you about Tréboul ,Tristan, and a beach in Douarnenez !!! Do read my several posts on the town in my blog, Hope you enjoy the post as I.The beautiful wonderful Douarnenez in neighboring dept 29 of Finistére in my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France.
The pier of the port of Tréboul offers incredible sunsets! With a magnificent view of Douarnenez and Tristan Island! Access on foot is easy from the port in Treboul or from the trail! It’s also a fishing spot! Former fishing port of Douarnenez, Tréboul has become a charming seaside resort. These narrow streets lined with pretty houses with flowered gardens give Tréboul a particular charm. There is no hustle and bustle here, no intense traffic. There reigns in these places an authenticity and a soothing serenity.

The plage des Dames beach is an emblematic place in Douarnenez. Having become popular and family-friendly, it was nevertheless the reserved domain of high society women at the end of the 19C. The Plage des Dames not only offers a breathtaking view of the bay of Douarnenez. At the foot of the Boulevard Richepin and the old factory houses, it also helps to shed light on a part of local history,

In 1871, a prefectural decree prohibited swimming in the Pironic beach without a complete bathing suit. A way for the “ladies” to “privatize” their patch of warm sand by the sea. The other inhabitants of the city, who generally bathed in boxers or blouses, due to financial means, therefore no longer have access to it. . Little by little, the Pironic shed its original name. It adopts the name of its exclusive residents… Thus was born, at the end of the 19C, the Plage des Dames. Today, the cabins have disappeared and all the locals, and visitors have regained possession of the beach.

Afar, you see clearly the Île Tristan island, inhabited since the Bronze Age. In the 12C it became the seat of a priory of the abbey of Marmoutier, During the wars of succession in Brittany, the supporters of the two factions, on one side Jean de Montfort supported by the English, on the other Charles de Blois allied with the French party covet this island and take turns mastering it. In 1353, while Charles de Blois was in London, his supporters put the entire English garrison on the island to the sword. It is also around the middle of the 14C that we note the substitution of Saint Tutuarn in Trestan and Tristan. This island regained a certain reputation towards the end of the 16C with the wars of the League and the famous Guy Eder de La Fontenelle. The island was acquired in 1854 by Gustave Le Guillou Penanros, who gradually rebuilt the 18C buildings. The island then fell, in 1911, into the hands of Jacques Richepin, who built the Chapelle des Aviateurs Chapel to commemorate the first non-stop Paris-New York crossing by Dieudonné Costes and Maurice Bellonte, the 1st and 2 September 1930;
