The Church Saint Joseph at 11 Rue des Ffi, was consecrated in 1884, this church is the most recent in Douarnenez. It accompanies the recognition of Tréboul as a parish and the need to be able to accommodate the growing population in a church larger than the Saint-Jean chapel (see post). The first stone was pose on June 17 1883 Inside, on the north wall of the north arm of the transept, a marble plaque bears an inscription and the date 1884. Inscription on the Cross: JUBILE 28 IX BRE 1886.

This is the parish church of Tréboul , a village now part of Douarnenez. The Church Saint Joseph includes, preceded by a bell tower porch, a nave of six bays with aisles, a transept and a choir of two straight bays with aisles extended by two chapels and a deep apse with cut sides. The church houses a statue of Saint Bridget.

The Church Saint Joseph was built on a Latin cross layout. Bedside table with cut sides. Outstanding sacristy on the side chapel. Outstanding bell tower flanked by a stair turret to the west, bell chamber surmounted by a square spire cushioned by a lantern and framed at its base by four lanterns and four pediments. Nave lit by high windows, with three naves and six bays. Semi-circular arches resting on the capitals of the columns. Choir of two bays. Side chapels forming a false transept.

A bit on the name and personage, Saint Joseph is the patron saint of workers, travelers, exiles, and all those in need. The father of the family is the very embodiment of the notion of protection and attention to his family. Joseph had been engaged to Mary for some time when she found herself pregnant through the action of the Holy Spirit. He then decides to marry Mary, accept the child as his own and provide for the family’s needs. Joseph is presented as a just man who agreed to welcome Mary and her child following a message from an angel of the Lord. Joseph therefore becomes the adoptive father of Jesus: it is he who raises him, dresses him and feeds him with Mary.
