My memorable restaurants of Vannes et al. !!!

I have written on several restaurants in my blog, many times in individual posts in my road warrior trips in my belle France ,and elsewhere, Sometimes, I indulge myself in telling you about a particular restaurant on a post of its own, This took my latest visit to one of them while with my sons and our dog Rex, on the would be 65th birthday of my dear late wife  Martine ; she love it here on the previous name, Therefore, let me tell you about my memorable restaurants of Vannes et al. !!!  Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Le Rest’ô is located at 4 Rue Aristide Boucicaut, just across from the Speed Park and near the Cinéville cinema, The restaurant offers 140 indoor seating, plus 60 seats on the terrace. It is tempo closed awaiting further news, here for the memories of always. It was the Poivre Rouge before which we came even more,  a memorable spot indeed

We made reservation with the manager Laurence and quickly got an email confirmation, The welcome was grand as we got there exactly at 12h noon, A very friendly and warm welcome by all indeed. The restaurant works with fresh meats and fish and fries , It offers special seating for the romantics, Parking available-free, Highchairs available, Wheelchair accessible, Playgrounds for kids , Dog friendly yes !!,and Family style.

I was not going for something fancy just a memorable spot for a memorable date. I had my fish and chips, with fries, and 3 scoops of ice cream for dessert. Before, we started out with our apéro or entry drink and had my usual Porto Red. The meal was had with a white Saint Veràn 2022 from the Domaine du Val Lamartinien, superbe!! My sons all had different menus and our Rex had his fries and water! Sublime as always. 

Again , a super friendly staff by all that I recommend , the decor is great and ideal for children and adults alike, We just had a great time and was even able to speak Spanish with Laurence ,the manager, who speaks a bit.

This restaurant took over from a previous chain called Le Poivre Rouge which we hade patronise, unfortunately closed a while back do not know why as was with the same attitude and good food as this one, This Le Rest’o new brand was created by Romain Coni and his wife. The couple previously managed Le Poivre Rouge, bought before confinement by La Boucherie (see post). The managers immediately opted for their independence by creating their own concept , Romain Coni owns the same restaurant in Lanester (56).

Drove by it several times, never stopping by as it on the run of the course to do things here. This time as nothing found to our liking along my road warrior trails ,looking to come into Vannes, well we saw Theix’as Bar in the nearby town of Theix-Noyalo , and finally stop in to a nice surprise. Fixed menu at 12,80€ all you can eat buffet entrée, main dish (mine was fish), dessert (mine créme brulée) , wash down with a nice cold Leffe blonde Belgian beer, nice price , good food, great friendly family service, will be back, eventually. This is lovely country resto and plenty of free parking and picnic tables too, camping cars are allowed on the parking. My boys ahead on first picture!

The largest restaurant on surface of Vannes opened its doors last past Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Royal d’Asie, Asian buffet, the place offers Asian specialties (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese or Thai). settled in place of the old Tati dept store, on 1,300 m², and will be able to accommodate up to 350 guests. At the back of the large room, a space where customers can ask to grill meat before their eyes, served with homemade sauces, and another reserved for woks minute have been fitted out for formulas that will be offered at the price of € 13.90 ( today up to € 17.90) lunch from Monday to Friday; at € 19.90 on midday on weekends and holidays, We went for lunch,

There you go folks, yes we have been out a lot ,and of course now with more vivid memories than ever as my dear late wife Martine was the motor that got me going to these places. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
