 As the previous post mentioned a lot , why not tell you something more with new older pictures not yet in my blog, This is of course in Josselin , in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56,in my lovely region of  Bretagne ,and in my belle France! The Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Roncier, also a parish Church, built at the end of the 12C and several times enlarged and modified. It houses the tombs of Olivier V de Clisson, Constable de France, and his second wife Marguerite de Rohan. All succeeded in all the major events in Josselin of the family of chevalier Olivier de Clisson, and Marguerite de Rohan, therefore the story of the Rohan family in the castle. There is a pilgrimage here and one of the most important of the Morbihan, after that of Sainte Anne d’Auray (for Sainte Anne, see post). It is the site of the pardon or forgiveness celebration of the virgen for 1200+ years!  every september 8th. You can climb the tower 138 steps at a height of 61 meters. Inside its richly decorated.

The Basilique Notre Dame du Roncier, in 808 leyend has it, a farmer who worked the land finds a statue of the Virgin and takes it home, however, the Virgin always comes back to the place where he found it ,and several times as well. The bishop ask him to rend a cult in her memory; the daughter of the farmer who was blind recovered her sight and people flock to the place until finally a Church is ordered built. The Constable Olivier de Clisson and his second wife Marguerite de Rohan had the southern apsidiole transformed into an oratory and private chapel at the end of the 14C. In 1370, this powerful lord, who was constable of the royal armies, had a private chapel built to the right of the choir (Sainte-Marguerite Chapel), a place intended to shelter his remains. Many miracles are attributed to this basilica, including the healing of the blind and the paralytic. The healing of “barkers” during forgiveness is also attributed to Notre-Dame du Roncier.

 The first half of the 15C, in the time of Duke Jean V, is regarded as Brittany’s golden age. From the 16C, the church and the city benefited from the constant development of the pilgrimage to Mary. The church even became a basilica in 1891. The former name of Notre-Dame du Château gave way, in modern times, to that of Notre-Dame du Roncier (see the stained glass window relating to the legend of the discovery of a statue of the Virgin in a bramble bush in the year 808.)  The basilica, completed around 1470, is similar to the hall churches: the vaults of the aisles are as high as that of the central nave. The construction is of “high part”, so the elevation is at one level and the lighting can only come from the openings of the aisles. Hence the beautiful cachet of the granite stone, especially on the south side which is pierced with large windows with close gables. This aspect is typical of many Breton churches, as is also the flat apse and its large Rohan stained glass window. The visitor will not fail to admire the triple arched brace of the west portal. Its trumeau is decorated with a 15C Virgin. A pretty basket-handle door opens onto the south side aisle . It is surmounted by an attractive granite cross decorated with the face of a Christ of Sorrows.
As for the tower, its lower part is the most recent part of the building (early 16C). It is embedded between two 15C buttresses.

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
