My culinary delights of Quiberon !!!

Once again to one of my favorite spots in my beautiful Morbihan dept 56 of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France, I have several posts on Quiberon of course, this is one of my latest rounds to it this week, Well this is by far the best area that I have seen in my area. The Quiberon is actually a presqu’Île (peninsula)  jetting out from mainland  France into the Atlantic ocean , This is a sublime spot visited by all, locals and especially Europeans at Summer’s season, A must to visit while in the area or even coming to it alone, Let me tell you about my culinary delights of Quiberon, !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

We came this time for the ice creams we love to the Quai des Glaces  , and were closed so we came back today later afternoon and voilà, they were open! , and this is a beach resort area par excellence. We strolled around town as usual soaking in the ambiance already with lots of visitors indeed ! And the usual British and German , and some Dutch/Belgian tourists !

There is a resto bistro right on the sand at the Grande Plage, call Fisher’s Club, we had our mouthful here with finger food to platters with a great look at the beach, grandiose!!!  Very nice cool place , to relax by the sea, sublime  yes there is Le Fisher beach club  right on the beach serving well even Mumm’s Champagne with classe. Be here or be square !!

We passed by our favorite just to see it brings back many family memories of good cheers over the years and thinking of those no longer with us ; this was/is the Café Hoche resto in the Place Hoche.

On the other side of the Grande Plage beach we have another memorable place we passed again, this is the Restaurant Le Colibri  ,a great spot, people watching par excellence and the prices right and food good, can’t ask for more lol! at 1 boulevard Chanard, Ovelooking the sublime Grande Plage or big beach of Quiberon !!!

We stop in one of our all times favorites here, In fact, if not the first one of our first restaurants we visited here way back by me in 2011 !! This is the  Quai Ouest  still going strong (funny its translates into Key West as in Florida USA);  the service and the speed are tops, even under the rain we ate in the covered terrace with heating.  It is at 51 Rue de Port Maria , right at the point along the quai de Belle Ile. You need to try it !! We had our cod fritters, down with my Lagunita beer with a nice view of the Gare Maritime or ferry terminal, My borador dog Rex was again flawless, good boy !!

Les Baigneuses, 7 Rue du Port Maria now a créperie, The former Villa Margot, which has become Les Baigneuses, is nestled in the heart of a 19C house with an adjoining turret, wonderfully located facing the ocean on the beach, not far from the islands pier and Place Hoche . The former Villa Margot was wonderful with the simple pleasures of a refined and authentic cuisine promoting local products. Lobsters, seafood, fishes etc. The new one not try yet.  La Villa Josette , 3 Rue du port Maria, Under new management in 2023, This was the L’Huitrére a beautiful oyster restaurant that bit the dust and now a new one have not try yet.

Another one for the memories of always ,fitting to have on this post was the Le Tourbillon at pl Hoche, (sadly now closed). We had the menu du jour, mont d’or melted cheese with potatoes and marteaux sausages, with Leffe blonde beer, expresso coffee all for 22€ per person. The service was very prompt and nice, locals only now, they all knew each other. A memorable picture !!

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
