And love it to update this older post in my blog! Talking about my former home department 78 Yvelines in the île de France region of my belle France! I spent my first 9 years in France here living in Versailles, but did went all over including this memorable city that I like to tell you a bit more in my black and white series, no pictures! Therefore, here is my take on this is Saint Quentin en Yvelines !!!  Hope you enjoy it as I.

On a mundane day in the west coast of France, we remember our wonderful times too in the west of Paris, Yvelines dept 78.  A magical moment to lived in the Royal city of Versailles and worked in the most beautiful city in the world , Paris. We went around a lot, and on many not your typical tourist towns but nevertheless it is our life and my blog is all about that. Footprints all over France ,and the world.  I like to share with my readers a dear town as Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines owes its name to the Chapel Saint-Quentin, in which rested the remains of Saint Quentin, chapel located on the site of the present leisure base, whose site was chosen to become the center of a new city. It is about  20 km from Paris.

The outdoor and leisure base (base de loisirs) , offers an area of ​​600 hectares including a lake of 120 hectares. There is a unique whitewater course in Europe, a sandy beach of 5,000 m2 dedicated to swimming, and a water ski lift. The base also has a golf course, an equestrian center and a pony club. It also houses 90 hectares of nature reserve classified Natura 2000.  The Vélodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, which hosts the headquarters of the French Cycling Federation, was inaugurated in December 2013. The city hosted the world championships in track cycling in 2015.

In Saint Quentin en Yvelines we love to come shopping at the mall there ,for the cinema and celebrated many younger days birthdays with friends at the bowling alley. The cinema Cine Cité SQY is still there. Official UGC cinemas: https://www.ugc.fr/cinema-ugc-cine-cite-sqy-ouest.html

A beautiful shopping area where we find the main brands around the Carrefour hypermarket. In any case, the purchases have always been made in serenity …. with free parking 3h nearby, just convenient and essential. It is really in the town of Montigny le Bretonneux but just over the street Official Shopping center Espace St Quentin : https://www.espacestquentin.com/

The shopping center has many stores and the memories are many . The bowling center now call Smile World is mentioned in the shopping center Espace St Quentin above , This is where we had the birthdays and many trips with the family and local friends over the years,

There you go folks, the other side of life in France, not visiting but living the real thing. Maybe just maybe you may feel to want to come to these areas just to take a look at how we live normal life away from the tourist throngs , just maybe ,you will be surprise. As I always said, Ernest Hemingway wrote about A Moveable Feast or Paris est une Fête because he only visited there, if he had gone out, he would had had the need to write a second book, France, is a moveable feast !!! There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
