It was in 1812 that André-Michel Pierlot, a former cooper and bottler, settled in Tours-sur-Marne and founded what would become the Laurent-Perrier Champagne house, named after the widow Laurent Perrier. In 1939, the de Nonancourt family acquired the Laurent-Perrier estate, but returned from the war decimated, with only Bernard surviving. From then on, he honed his skills from vineyard to cellar, shaping the Laurent-Perrier style based on “freshness, elegance, and purity.” In 1979, the house was awarded the prestigious Royal Warrant from King Charles III, becoming a champagne supplier to the royal household. The result of eight years of aging, this Champagne is composed of grapes from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, with 60% from the 2016 vintage and 40% from 2014. The Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi in Santenay unveils its first crémant, and it’s a great success. In the Côte de Beaune, more precisely at Château Philippe le Hardi, which has never been so aptly named. This property, owned by Crédit Agricole bank, under the guidance of Anne Le Naour who oversees the vineyards of the green bank had the not-so-far-fetched idea of expanding its rich range of Premier and Grand Cru wines, including some lovely walled vineyards, with a sparkling wine.
