A bit short on personnel , two dear women and a great men missing, but we were back along with our dog Rex , and my 3 boys !!! Disneyland is always magical once in it and with family even better! We came again , and it was a blast ! Text done with a combination of official Disney site and wikipedia, Therefore, let me tell you again on the Frontierland on the Phantom Manor attraction !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

In the Phantom Manor you’ll be peeking through your fingers in this fun-filled mystery, where ghoulish ghosts and spirits greet your every turn. tucked away in a corner of Frontierland stands Phantom Manor, once home to one of Thunder Mesa’s founding families. Local residents steer clear of the dilapidated house, claiming it to be haunted, but any intrepid Disneyland Park visitors who dare to enter will soon discover its terrible secrets. The owner of the manor, Henry Ravenswood, cherished his only daughter, Melanie, who attracted the attentions of four different men… each of whom came to a mysterious and untimely end. Rumour has it that her father didn’t think any of them were good enough for his darling girl. In fact, some say he had a hand in the young men’s disappearances, but nothing has ever been proven. One thing is certain, the bride-to-be has been waiting many long years for her wedding day… and will likely wait for hundreds more!

The Phantom Manor attraction begins after passing through the gates ,and continues with a climb up the hill through the gardens. If you pause for a moment, you can hear a music box, specially designed for the attraction, playing its theme music. Once through the gardens, you enter the manor through the main door, arriving in the first room, the foyer. Visitors are then invited to the next room where the tragic story of the suitors of Melanie Ravenswood, the daughter of Henry Ravenswood, the manor’s owner, is told through four paintings located in the four corners of the room. Note the detail of the gargoyle-shaped chandeliers and Henry’s ghost appearing on the ceiling during thunderclaps. The ghost embodies the wickedness and tension resulting from the owner’s greed and avarice. A new door opens, inviting visitors to delve deeper into the mansion. Continuing down the corridor, visitors arrive at the boarding platform after passing a series of paintings. The carriages aka Doom Buggies can accommodate up to three persons.

The first part of the attraction begins on the right with Melanie looking out the window at the top of the stairs. The carriages ascend into a long corridor where the following can be seen: Melanie’s ghost holding a chandelier. A haunted piano where the outline of the ghostly pianist can be discerned, playing one of the attraction’s musical themes. Several flower wreaths are arranged on either side, and a raven is perched on one of them; a coffin is also open. A series of doors with handles that turn by themselves. This first part ends in the ballroom. Several ghosts enter the room through the hearse seen next to the fireplace. To the far left of the ballroom are several couples of ghostly dancers performing to the music played on the organ, from which ghosts escape through the pipes. Above hangs a painting of Phantom Manor in its heyday.

Next, visitors enter Melanie’s bedroom where she, overcome with grief, sits at the dressing table. In the mirror’s reflection, you can see the ghost of her father over her shoulder. The second part of the attraction continues with the fictional) exit from the manor. Finally, you enter the ghost town of Thunder Mesa where the mayor himself extends a welcome. Several buildings are represented: the bank, the apothecary, the saloon, and the hotel, each with its own unique scene. Leaving the town, visitors pass the vault containing the coffins of Melanie’s four suitors, one of whom holds an engagement ring in his hand. The attraction concludes with a series of mirrors where Melanie’s ghost appears inside the carriage, among the visitors. She proposes marriage to them.

The mansion belongs to the Ravenswood family, a wealthy family living in Thunder Mesa, a town founded on the Frontier in the late 19C. It is located on Boot Hill, near the cemetery. Rumor has it that Henry Ravenswood is responsible for all these deaths. Melanie, heartbroken, remained a bride-to-be for the rest of her life. Now, the spirits of Henry ,nicknamed “The Phantom”, and Melanie haunt the mansion and frighten its visitors. This is the European version of The Haunted Mansion attraction, an older ghost train concept reimagined by Walt Disney and his team of Imagineers. The attraction is dark, humorous, entertaining, and particularly well-developed aesthetically. This is how Phantom Manor opened for Disneyland Paris in 1992.
