This I heard about it when working in luxury hotels in Paris but never went inside just passed by it on my walking warrior trails of my eternal Paris, The quant look gave me the curiosity to stop by and take a peek ,however, not into these sort of things , I again, happened to find me a picture in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me, This is the story of that encounter on a historical fashionable firm of my belle France, much impressive and grand with lots of cachet. Therefore, here is my story on the Officine Universelle Buly of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,
His entrepreneurial spirit at the dawn of the industrial revolution ran in the veins of César Birotteau, a perfumer to the conquering bourgeoisie, born under the pen of Honoré de Balzac for one of his novels, Scènes de la Vie Parisienne. Antique walnut pharmacy furniture, marble counters, old tiles, framed portraits of Parisian women on the walls… Entering this boutique, one could be forgiven for thinking they were in a Balzac novel. This is no coincidence, since the Parisian distiller and perfumer himself inspired the author for his character, César Birotteau, in La Comédie Humaine.
Beyond literature, Jean-Vincent Bully who at the time bore a double consonant in his name marked his time and the history of beauty with his talents as a distiller, perfumer, and cosmetician. The reputation of his Parisian boutique, on rue Saint-Honoré, from 1803 onward, spread far beyond borders and radiated throughout Europe. The era indeed heralded the advent of hygiene, and at the same time, the establishment of the Codex in 1806 by Napoleon helped establish new requirements in perfumery, thus stimulating the inventiveness of practitioners and the quality of preparations. Endowed with a certain talent for capturing the spirit of the times and a great business sense, Jean-Vincent Bully naturally embraced the advances in science and cosmetics to formulate his inventions. And among them, a vinegar with a thousand virtues. Its formula sealed by patents of invention in 1809 and 1814, the lotion established itself as the remedy for all ills and the key to perfect beauty. And, faced with the famous eau de Cologne whose quality varied according to imitations and counterfeits, Bully vinegar became a classic of beauty care, a true best-seller rewarded at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867 and 1878.

A showcase for Europe and the world in the 19C, Paris sets the tone for fashion (haute couture and the cycle of seasons initiated by Charles-Frederick Worth are in full bloom) and beauty. It is in Paris that everything happens, that people come to seek out new customs/codes. And it is the only Parisian woman, whose allure and beauty are so natural that they seem innate, that people want to imitate. The quintessence of beauty and modern perfumery is in Paris, in its beautiful pharmacies and elegant perfumeries. And Bully is one of the most famous. It is this golden age of Parisian beauty that L’Officine Universelle Buly is reviving today. Co-founders of L’Officine Universelle Buly, Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami have something of the passers of time. Their deep passion for ancestral know-how, gestures and habits of hygiene and beauty of all the peoples of the world, translated in 2014 by the opening of L’Officine Universelle Buly at 6 rue Bonaparte (see pic) , Also 45 rue de Saintonge, 3éme arrondissement, and 19 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 4éme arrondissement, Imagined in Paris and formulated in a French laboratory, the treatments and perfumes developed by Buly create an extraordinary and timeless experience.
