The jardin des étangs Gobert of Versailles !!!

This is about a wonderful garden in my Versailles. The garden can be said to an off the beaten path site as not well known even if in a popular location. It is heaven, peace, beauty au naturel ,family gathering and hours of tranquility, Therefore, let me tell you a bit on the jardin des étangs Gobert of Versailles !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I

The jardin des étangs Gobert  or the Gobert Ponds Garden is a public garden in Versailles. It is located in the continuity of the Avenue de Sceaux, one of the three branches of the urban “trident” designed by André Le Nôtre. It was built on the site of the reservoirs built by Thomas Gobert, intendant of Louis XIV, to supply the fountains in the lower part of the park of the Palace of Versailles. It has retained its basin shape during its transformation: thus, the City of Versailles opened the Gobert Ponds Garden in 2014 to revive the old reservoirs of the fountains of the Palace of Versailles, which had been abandoned until then. I used to walked around here before on its natural state.

It forms a new access point to the Chantiers train station (see post). Inaugurated in 2014, it includes the creation of an elevated promenade, a path extending into a steel footbridge, and the landscaping of the 6,500 m² square pond. Small groves of trees were sculpted, creating clearings. In the center of the garden, The atypical convoluted bench made up of 56 pieces of concrete, the high promenade (1915m²) which draws the upper contour of the pond, the landscaped embankments (2260m²) with pedestrian and cycle paths, the sports ground (1590m²) surrounded by hornbeams below the embankment and behind the Square des Francine, the forecourt and access ramps (2135m²) as an extension of the Avenue de Sceaux, This long, elegant white coiled snake creates a clearing in the center of the garden. The Square des Francine also reopened in 2016, nearby after several years of restoration. This square is now composed of three distinct parts: a children’s playground, a “dry” fountain where visitors can get wet, and a small green maze.
