After driving running walking all over Paris over the years we got used to the finest things in life like theaters ! Let me continue my saga of the eternal city with a very nice monument often overlook but it should not.. Therefore, Let me tell you briefly about theThéâtre Tristan Bernard of Paris !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Théâtre Tristan-Bernard theater is located at 64, rue du Rocher in the 8 éme arrondissement of Paris. Close to Batignolles, halfway between Place Clichy and the upmarket neighborhoods of the 8éme arrondissement, The Tristan Bernard Theater is named after the playwright, famous for his witticisms, who took over the direction in the 1930s and created many of his biting comedies there. Built in 1911 by the Léopold Bellan Foundation, it still has its headquarters at this address. To host meetings and educational performances for its girls’ institution, the hall opened to the public in 1919 under the name of Théâtre Albert-Ier, in honor of the King of the Belgians. Tristan Bernard took over as director in 1930. He renamed it Théâtre Tristan-Bernard and presented his comedies there for a season. After his departure, the theater regained its name of Théâtre Albert-Ier. In 1936, the actor Charles de Rochefort, who had returned from the United States where he had worked for Cecil B. de Mille, among others, reopened the hall, which had become Théâtre Charles-de-Rochefort. Mobilized and wounded during WWII, he had to hand over the management to his wife, the actress Mary Grant, a task she would carry out until 1972, with her son Jean Dejoux. In 1973, Dominique Nohain, son of the presenter Jean Nohain, bought the theatre and renamed it the Théâtre Tristan-Bernard . Edy Saiovici succeeded him in 1986 and ran the venue until his death in 2013; he was replaced by his wife Mireille. At the request of Edy Saiovici, Pascal Guillaume took over the artistic direction of the theater in 2013. He became its owner in 2014.

In 2010, 50 private Parisian theaters united within the Association for the Support of Private Theater (ASTP) and the National Union of Directors and Tour Operators of Private Theater (SNDTP), of which the Tristan-Bernard theater is a part, decided to join forces under a common banner: the Parisian Theaters Associated today Theaters and Associated Producers, Tristan Bernard, pen name of Paul Bernard, born in Besançon on September 7, 1866 and died in Paris 7th on December 7, 1947, is a French novelist and playwright.
