I came to the village of Saint Lupien on my road warrior trails east of my belle France, This is country France at its best and worth the detour me think, I found older pictures in my cd rom vault and they should be in my blog for you and me, Therefore, here is my rendition to this is Saint Lupien !! Hope you enjoy the post as I
The village of Saint-Lupien is located in the department of Aube No. 10 in the Grand Est region of my belle France. The village is made up of two main parallel streets which border the two banks of the Orvin river. Before Saint-Lupien, the village was called Somme-Fontaine. Its current name comes from Saint Lupien who passes for having been buried in the church. From the 12C to the 14C, the lordship belonged to the trays; In 1377, Charles V gave it to the cathedral chapter in Sens, This is a very small village no City hall but an office is at 19 rue de la Mairie, the village only has about 231 inhabitants, It is located at 31 km fromTroyes ,83 km from Fontainebleau, 101 km from Meaux, 140 km from Versailles, and 549 km from my current home, I came here while visiting family near Meaux mostly on the D15 road towards Nogent sur Seine taking the D54 to connect with the D23 to the village and later on the autoroute A5 in my road warrior trails.
The monument that made me stop here was the Church,Info from the panel and brochures in the church as very little else on it, The Church Saint Lupien was part of the deanery of Marigny and the Grand-Archidiaconé until the 18C before being incorporated into the archpriest of Troyes. Its construction spanned from the 13C to the 16C,done on a Latin cross plane and it was entirely vaulted. A span of the transept is from the 12C. A sarcophagus dating from the High Middle Ages passes to be the tomb of Saint Lupien. It, also, has the arm of Saint Lupien, embedded in wood covered with a silver leaf, Also, a wall painting covered with a brush and a painting of the 16C. The northern transept was demolished in 1810 .;the arm of the double transept; 2 nerfs; bell at the crossroads of the transept. . The church was rebuilt around 1500. From the Romanesque church were preserved the target tower and the arms of the transept. Restorations were undertaken in the 1760s. Around 1808, the church threatening ruin, the whole north side was demolished (chapel, transept and collateral). Work was carried out in the second half of the 19C. Construction of a new sacristy in 1877, Small but a nice stop indeed.

Other thing to see here me think is the Grand-Cour, it was erected in fief on March 18, 1648 for Charles de Beruryer, lord of Bussy-Saint-Georges, by the chapter of Sens. It consisted of 105 arpents of land and a square building. Castle with four towers, a central courtyard and a loft etc. Very little left of it.
