The Château de Versailles, part V !!!

And I continue with nostalgia and great memorable moments in my life. This is a town I know very well, of course lived there 9 + years of our lives, and keep many nice memorable moments. We have re visited and have several, many posts on it in my blog. However, I like to tell you more of it with new found pictures in my vault that should be in my blog, Proud member of Friends of the castle since 2004. Therefore, this is my new take on the Château de Versailles ,part V !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

My playground with my family and visiting friends, I love to tell you more of course, never ending saga, My Versailles is capital of the dept 78 Yvelines of the Île de France region of my belle France, Constitutionally chosen if any changes, amendments are made to the French constitution, the government must move here and becomes the de facto capital of France, A whold history of France, Europe, and the World at your feet, just do the walking is awesome.

The grille d’honneur of the Château de Versailles is a gate separating the Place d’Armes from the Cour d’Honneur. The gate is framed by two gatehouses surmounted by two groups sculpted in Saint-Leu stone: Victory over the Empire, north side, by Gaspard Marsy and Anselme Flamen (presumed) Victory over Spain, south side, by François Girardon , It is closed to the north and south by the Aile or wing of the Ministers, to the east by the main gate , and to the west by the royal gate , The Grille d’Honneur is the first you see when you arrive from the city, separating the Place d’Armes from the Cour d’Honneur. Built in 1682, it will be redone in the 19C. Today it is the main entrance to the castle.

The Aile Gabriel wing was built under Louis XV by Ange-Jacques Gabriel. Located between the Cour d’Honneur and the Chapel, it serves as an entry point for groups of visitors. It houses a grand staircase designed by Gabriel, the construction of which began in 1772 but was not completed until 1985 due to insufficient funds !  The Royal Chapel is a palatial chapel , Five sanctuaries followed one another, according to the architectural transformations of the castle. The current Royal Chapel was blessed in 1710, after a project started in 1687. It is the part of the castle that has been the least modified by history.. It has been totally restored to its old magical self, wonderful !!! See it all below pic.

The cour Royale or Royal court is located in front of the castle, in an alignment of 3 courtyards, before the Cour de Marbre and behind the Cour d’Honneur from which it is separated by the Grille Royale or Royal gate. It is flanked to the north by the Gabriel Wing and to the south by the Dufour Pavilion. The Cour de Marbre is a courtyard of the Château de Versailles paved with black and white marble, located in the recess of the old castle, at the foot of the King’s chamber. Separated by five steps from the cour Royale.

And as most of our times there, walked in by the Porte Saint Antoine and just on our right is the Hameau de la Reine Marie Antoinette!  Taking a peek from the trail or Allée Saint Antoine, we see the back of the house of the queen. Always marvelous and see posts in my blog!
