I have gone to the wine areas of the Loire including this of the Nantaise. I by passed this village until one day read about it and decided to give it my road warrior traiblazer turn. It was a nice trip and now glad to have found me some pictures in my cd rom vault to show in my blog for you and me, Therefore, let me tell you on this is Saint Fiacre sur Maine !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.  

The village of Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine is located in the Loire-Atlantique department no, 44, in the Pays de la Loire region of my belle France. The vineyard-covered hillsides represent four-fifths of the town’s area ; this is  Muscadet Sèvre et Maine country !. The village is 17 km from Nantes, 13 km from Clisson. 3 km from Château-Thébaud, and 162 km from my current home, which is from where we came along the N165 highway dir Nantes then get on N444 highway dir Nantes Atlantique airport this takes you to the rocade or ring road N844 and get off at exit/sortie 47 Porte de Vertou on roundabout bear right dir Vertou Centre on the M59 road or BD Auguste Priou continue to roundabout de Vertour bear right onto Route de la Gare continue to next roundabout de l’Europe bear right on Bd de la Europe continue to roundabout du Vignoble and bear right onto the Route de Saint Fiacre still on the M59 road continue cross the canal la Sévre Nantaise continue same road now call La Ramée same road changes name but continue into centre by the place de l’église and the church,

The Church Saint Hilaire 19C replaced the first church of Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, probably founded in the 12C, which was burned down in 1794 by revolutionaries. In the Romano-Byzantine style, its tiara-shaped bell tower was completed in 1896. Above the door are a statue of Joan of Arc and a bas-relief of Saint Fiacre (patron saint of gardeners). Inside, there are paintings on the chancel vault and a 20C stained-glass window depicting “Saint George slaying the dragon.”



Other things to see here are the Tour Chasseloir Tower, dating from the 15C, includes an underground passage. The castle was destroyed and burned during the French revolution. The former residence of Saint Fiacre, the lordship of Gras Mouton, The 18-19C Château du Coing, located at the confluence of the Sèvre and Maine rivers. This castle is characterized by architecture from different periods, with the outbuildings in a pure Italianate style reminiscent of Clisson.

The village was founded in the 6C. This part depended on the very old castellany of Château-Thébaud which was a constituent part of the marquisate of La Galissonnière as the historical Saint-Fiacre depended on the lords of Goulaine whose lands were erected into a marquisate in the 17C.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
